I've searched and browsed former posts and it looks like there is no easy way to tap into the switched power on an '91 to add a USB charger. The '91 doesn't have the little plug right behind the fuse box like later years and doesn't have a dedicated accessory port like the 1300s. Before I go tapping stuff into the back of the fuse box I wanted to double check and see if anyone has a better solution?
Thanks!

I wired mine off the rear brake light, which , if I remember correctly is a brown wire, and ran a cig lighter into my left pocket. Because it has been a while since I've done it, I would seek confirmation on this.

It’s easy to tap into the back of the fuse block. There are spade slots in the back that you can tap into

Before you tap into the back of the OEM fuse block, I would suggest you add an auxiliary fuse block in the tail piece with an inline fuse direct from the battery.
I use BlueSea Marine grade on all of mine but there are lots of other options.
That way if you decide to add more stuff (though you have the 28 amp alternator) it's a simple matter.
I used a switched hot wire to fire a relay so my fuse block is only on when then key is on.

Does that charge and power a 10 amp?

I've got my heated gear connection, my heated grip connection, my Fiamm horn connection and some other stuff also connected to my fuse blocks on all 4 of my ST1100s.
I have a 50 amp fuse and relay (fired when the switch is on) direct from the battery with a 10 gauge wire connection so it gets plenty of juice. ;)
At least 300,000+ miles with this setup over the years between the 4 ST1100s and no problems.
This is the one I use -

BLUE SEA SYSTEMS ST Blade Fuse Block, 12 Circuits with Cover | West Marine

I also use MotoBatt batteries which you can add a second set of terminals on the back.
That way the only thing connection to the front terminals are the two battery cables for the bike.
All accessories go on the back terminals (but they are 'extra'- about $10 last time I bought some).

I'm uncomfortable with my wires running all over the place and would love to clean it up. Also, thanks on the rear tire. Did 8000 and have a ton of rubber left for the summer riding! Still gonna try the avons on the next tour.
Thanks

This is a switched on/off by key source. It is not fused so be warned. I used this source to switch a relay on for an auxiliary fuse block.

If you're only going to run one item, it's a quick easy source. Just don't forget the apropriate sized fuse.
