Barkeepers Friend. Make a paste with some water and apply to the muffler. Let it rest for a minute or so, and then wash off with clean water. Chemical reaction turns the stainless steel back to original color.

Not sure why that says, "Robot or human?" but it is a link to the product at Walmart. Or do a google search.

I would use Bar Keepers Friend about every 10,000 miles to return the cats and mufflers to the original sparkling stainless finish. No elbow grease needed like with metal polishes. Better living through chemistry. Even though I put a ton of miles on my ST I never wanted it to look like it had a ton of miles on it. I met a guy in a parking lot one time with an ST and we were admiring each other‘s bikes. He asked me how many miles you got on yours? I said 55 he replied 5500? No I replied 55,000 and that blew his mind that a motorcycle could roll that many miles. 55,000 is nothing remarkable in this forum.

Here is the German technology Flitz polish I use on all metals
Works for me shining up the chrome and stainless parts and also jewelry.
Says it adds a layer of corrosion protection also.

Over here across the pond they use down-pipe cleaners with hydrochloric acid on those SS pipes...
Wearing gloves and protective glasses is advised...

It is safe to be used on chrome?
Use a paste of any cleaning product containing oxalic acid. While still harmful if ingested it’s safe on chrome and stainless steel. It’s abrasive but applied in a wet paste don’t scrub it.
