I went with a gentleman today to inspect a bike he was considering buying.
The Seller was asking about $4,000 above retail book value.
When asked how that was justified, he said he added up every oil change, spark plugs, tires, fuel, and even insurance costs during the time he rode it.
I don't often burst into laughter in front of folks, but I couldn't help myself this time :rofl1:
And his bike didn't even have any trim pieces.
 
From time to time Amazon would have an item with a Whiskey Tango price for a period of time. Some said that this was usually a place holder for one reason or another and that the item would disappear or have the price changed to something reasonable. I don't know that it applies to ebay.

A box of Tim Horton's assorted finest says the person listing the deflectors doesn't actually think he's going to get anywhere near that. It's odd though as it's not like he'd be expecting a load fron the factory. Or maybe he keyboard stuttered and threw in an extra 0. Even that's a liiiittle optimistic.
 
They've been listed for 2 weeks now afik, had a BIN price of $3,500 last week :poop: As @Donk said, not a bad price if it comes attached to an 08 or newer ST with better ECU! :hat1:

When I first saw it I presumed they ACCIDENTALLY added an extra zero!:unsure-2x:

I have often seen ridiculous pricing on used items listed for sale in many different mediums. My guess is that people throw out a stupid number to test the waters knowing that if they get even half of that they are laughing. If you see a certain item that is priced ridiculously high that doesn't sell and that you have interest in and you check on it over a long period, like weeks, the price will often drop or very often the ad will disappear and then reappear a few days later at a much more reasonable price.

Just to preclude anyone from being led astray, the ECM was changed in the ST1300 on model years 2008 and later.
