How do you navigate

Our hummingbird feeder hangs from a hook in the middle of our living room window. They left to fly 2,500 miles south about 6 weeks ago.

In the spring they'll be back and they come right to the same spot where the feeder usually hangs and will hover there moving back and forth looking at us sitting in the LR as if to say "Hey, I'm back, get that feeder out, I'm starving."

We have the same Osprey, Bald and Golden Eagles who return year after year as well.

That's exactly what I've been thinking about … my first long trip was on my 18th birthday which was on a Friday and since I had a light motorcycle license it automatically applied to heavy motorcycles on my 18th birthday. Back to what I was going to tell you, on my 18th birthday I drove to a place I had never been before and the trip was about 500 kilometers to watch drag racing. Without a map or familiarity with the road, GPS hadn't been invented but we found the place :)

I have always had good directional and navigation instincts. I never get lost, and I can follow oral directions well.

Most of the day the sun is in southern part of the sky where I live, I wouldn't be surprised if the young follow Mom , but I have read bird's have a organ that senses the magnetic field of earth.

I do not navigate well, I get lost a bunch, gotten good at reading the road though. Some look better traveled than others, (when in the mood I will choose the other one) .
When on the road I make sure the tank is topped off above half a tank.
Knowing which way the shadows lay is a big help, having a map and gps in the trunk helps when needed. the rest of the time it is the trip that matters the most to me. Not the most direct route or how fast I get there

I never found it hard to navigate the great distances but the last 10 or so kilometres can be a challenge.

In my 20’s, I could get directions from a phone call, to a location in another state, leave several days later, and still get there without writing anything down. Now, if somebody tells me their address, I can’t remember it long enough to write it down.
