I topped off the radiator on my '01 1100, because it got hot andthe overflow jug was full. It appears the bottom end of the tubing was slightly split; the top end is pristine.

Everything went fine until I went to install the radiator cap. I don't remember dropping it, but I can not find it anywhere. I looked inside the body all the way to the belly pan.

I have looked everywhere within a 50' radius, under cars, etc. Is there some secret compartment in the bodywork where misplaced radiator caps hide?

Ok, I’ll play…

Favourite place for dropped items is between the two exhaust down pipes; between pipes and sump; behind heat shield.
Spin the cooling fan, see what rattles.

The bottom of whatever you drained the coolant into.

Abs unit hard plumbing.

Attached the the bottom of your magnetic tray.

Place yer bets!

I looked thoroughly, but will probe deeper tomorrow with a flashlight.

Spin the cooling fan, see what rattles.
I looked there, too, but I will try spinning the roulette wheel.

I used the overflow tube to drain the jug into a bottle, then poured it into the radiator.

Abs unit hard plumbing.

Fairing side pocket?

Make sure you tell us where you put it so we can all laugh at you - we will then realize we've all done the same type of thing.

My recent trip has been when I started working on the bike wearing a Hoodie and got warm so I took it off and put it inside the house.
Continued working on the bike and got to reassembly....
The thing is, I couldn't find fasteners that I pulled off and I know I put it in safe place so I could find it.
Yah, then round and round on reassembling, where the F are those bolts! So I give up a pull out the Honda fasteners stash and dig
though it to find replacements......get the job done...
Next day, while in the house, I put on the hoodie, and yeah, the damn bolts are in the hoodie pocket . ...aaaahhhh.
3 hours wasted !

In the fridge when you grabbed a beer? Don’t laugh…
No, I'm positive that I didn't bring it inside, but that didn't stop me from looking.

I guarantee it will be in the last place you look... always is
I certainly hope so!

Fell between the dash and windshield.
I will double-check tomorrow.

it is with the 10 mm sockets, socks and with that last screw that doesn't seem to have a place to go
Well, I did find a deep 10mm socket in the trunk of my Accord.

Sit down, get comfortable and relaxed, close your eyes, and go through the steps in your mind that you followed from the start to when you took the cap off, and placed it....
Somewhere within reach of the bike.

in the one place that slipped yor memory
That's it!

I'm sure it went something like "let me put the cap here so I don't lose it"
No, that would have made sense.

Already on the Rad
No, I looked around 20 times.

In the kitchen, where you carried it when you went to make a cup of coffee.
See post #22.

Only one for me, so far.
