Good morning!
It’s time get up on the horse, well coffee first of coarse, there are eggs too, sunny side down and covered in melted Jarlsberg cheese.
Coffee brand is Kjeldsberg, it’s magic.

10˚c/50f, rain, calm.
Yes, it’s unusual mild.
Yes, my utility bill will be less heart stopping when it arrives.

Up early and drove Mrs Stu to work, as I need the car to pick up Peter.
First I’m getting my barnet done, I’m almost two months overdue, would probably not be granted access if I tried to enter any public transportation.

Have a good one, if you’re cold, wool is your friend!

Coffee:
helping people to pretend to be morning persons since the 15th century... :coffee:

no wool for me... totally itchy... yuck... 😖
I'm a cotton fella... but I also take warm showers, so... 😜

no breakfast on weekdays, just coffee for me... ☕
not enough time and at those ungodly hours my stomach is still too small for solid food...

-1°/+1°C today, so kinda undecided if it should freeze or not...

overcast, fog, only marginal drizzle... the windscreen gets quickly mucked up with road-spray,
but there just isn't enough water for the wipers to deal with it... and then those LED headlights... 😵‍💫
thankfully the trusty Toyota holds like 1.5 gal of washer fluid... a container actually deserving the term 'tank'... last like forever...
GF ain't so lucky, her Octavia holds only 0.3 gal... she's refilling every other week... using a lot of 'french expressions' while pouring...

Office, calm...
Nothing is more suspicious than when everything is "going fine"... something's up... the universe isn't that kind... 🤔

enjoy the day!

Morning all and thanks for the coffee Stu and as always a nice picture to accompany it.

I agree wool is the best, much better than the synthetic stuff. It's all I buy for the cold anymore. There is a saying I've heard, in real cold temps cotton kills. We have 2 digits in the morning temps I believe it is 16. Supposed to warm up this week. Very exciting because maybe the Doberman will go out and run off some of her boundless energy.

Boy they beat me up at PT yesterday. Seems every time the shoulder is feeling good they want to take it to the limit again. I'm sure there is a proven method to their madness but wow I was hurting last evening.

Hope everyone has a great day, take advantage of the warmer temps, and remember be safe out there.

Morning all and thanks for the coffee Stu.

Wool would be good here this morning as it's -10/-17 and dark, headed to a sunny but cold -5/-10 by mid afternoon.

Today's a long day at work, with some OT pushing me out to a 14 hour day, which is about what Peppermint does without missing a beat!

Hope everyone has a super day.

Obo.

Good morning and thanks for the coffee start, Stu.

It's 13f in MA this morning, rising to 32, later.
The clouds will lift, and it'll become mostly sunny.

Yesterday's gym visit went well, and we did some last minute shopping for gift cards for the kids.
Supper at a local pub-style restaurant in town.

Today, I'll try for another gym visit, and whatever comes next.
Maybe a little skiing?

Enjoy your day,
Steve

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the magic coffee, Stu. Those eggs and cheese sound delicious, too.

It's 19°F, bright and sunny, and dead calm at this hour in Rockville. We'll warm to a toasty 38, which might feel like 50 or so. Acceptable for the time of year but don't try it again in the summer.

Mrs. Fun returned home on schedule yesterday afternoon, so the household is back to full strength. She and her lady friends had a good time in Williamsburg, as I'm sure this month's credit card statement will attest.

I've got two, TWO, doctor's appointments today: one with the sleep doctor (who is about to lose me as a patient though they don't know it yet) and another with my cardiologist. The sleep doctor appointment is very timely, as I had another lengthy sleepless interval last night: was awake from 2345 to a bit past 0400. Ugh. Not even a really tasty single malt (Dalwhinnie 15 year old, for those interested) could work its usual magic.

Yesterday I reglued the dining chair that had gotten very sketchy, and also visited the woodworking shop to look at materials for my bench project. I think I'll keep looking a while yet.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Thanks for the coffee Stu, you were on the cusp of the correct day, but as I didn't see it till this morning, I won't sweat the details.
This the seasons for shoulders, it would seem. I know of a handful of folks, including my CEO and our retired church pianist, among others.
This weekend past, David (or CEO) was carrying something from his truck to the house, and his 60lb pit bill puppy got the zoomies, leapt of the porch, and hit him in the knees, knocking him down.
He tried unsuccessfully to rotate while falling, to avoid landing on his recently-rebuilt shoulder... unsuccessfully. He landed on that left shoulder and his right wrist, hurting the shoulder and breaking a bone in his right wrist.
Fortunately he has an extraordinarily high pain tolerance.
In other good news (?) I missed a half day off work yesterday chasing a replacement battery for the GSA. Multimeter said 12.83 VDC no load, which does not mean a good battery, and it's the original in a 3yo bike, so...
Had it checked at two battery centers, both testers showed 100% good, in cranking amps, health, everything.
I put the disconnected AGM battery on the Battery Tender indoors last night, and it showed fully charged in less than a couple of hours.
Will know shortly when I put it back in, if it doesn't take too long. Nothing is as simple as it seems.
If not the battery, I have some serious sleuthing to do. Yesterday it didn't even spin the motor.
Meanwhile, as my week becomes more frustrating and dark, I hope the rest of yours is Merry and Bright!

Might be as simple as the start button, just like many here have had.... try wiggling it when press the button or shoot some contact cleaner in there. It was previously in a dusty CA area so might be that... or not.

Good morning, everyone. Thanks for the coffee, Stu. Any trout in that creek?

Short britches and iced tea day. Today’s high is a sunny 51!

Today involves taking Teddy to Tractor Supply to replenish his pantry. One bag of kibble, 10 pounds of Milk Bone biscuits, and a couple of pig ears.

John

Good morning, all, and thank you indeed for the coffee and delectable breakfast! Eggs and Jarslberg...yumm!

We're in a bit of a "warm-up" phase...it's hardly summery out there but we'll take it, as it's been cold as a witch's mammary gland up here. The sky's overcast right now, but we're supposed to have a mix of sun and clouds today, with temps ranging from the current -5°C/23°F (windchill -11°C-12°F) to -4°C/25°F with a feels-like of -9°C/16°F. It was mighty chilly waiting for the bus yesterday morning ; the sun wasn't up yet so no warmth there, and the windchill was around -21°C/-6°F...and the 496 "express" to the city centre is almost always late..

So yeah, the part-time gig...sigh. The only expression that comes to mind is "Somebody shoot me." Essentially, it involves teaching AI (Google, to be precise) to understand human speech in different languages/accents/dialects. My job is to listen to short clips, mostly of people speaking commands into their devices, and transcribe exactly what was said. I'm working in French with Québec regional accents (we have several), though sometimes the person speaking is from New Brunswick (several different accents and dialects there, too, and different from Québec), or France, or Belgium, or Algeria, or Cameroon... and sometimes the speech is hard to understand and you have to listen to the clip a few times to get it, or it's unintelligible, in which case you have to skip it. The work in itself isn't difficult; but it's gruelling. The transcribers are constantly being monitored for speed and accuracy and you have to log X number of clips per hour, which means that you have to really motor. A full day is 8 hours and you only get a 30-minute break in all that time. Oh, you can get up to get a cup of coffee or go to the loo, of course, but you're not paid for anything over 10 minutes. And the pay sucks (I didn't expect it to be high for that kind of work - I'm only doing this as a stopgap). In a word, it's a sweat shop. As a part-timer, I have to work a minimum of 20 hours a week, but I can work whenever I want, as long as I put in a minimum of 4 hours at a time and fulfil the 20-hour requirement. That's the only "merciful" part, as the few times I've had to work full days have left me totally fried. It also means having to fit it all in around any freelance translation jobs I have to deliver (always on tight deadlines), hence those 14-hour days Obo was alluding to.
This is initially a 45-day contract, which also serves as a "probation" period. Regardless of whether they want to keep me on or not, I doubt I'll stay, but t least it's 20 hours a week of guaranteed income through January. So onward and upward, I guess. Let's see what the next adventure brings.

Everybody have a good one, stay safe and go safely. And if you smell something burning, don't worry, it's only the smoke coming out of my ears.

You reminded me that we need to get there, too.
Brenda became fascinated with the various kinds of suet that they stock, given that she's into feeding the birds.

Good Morning, Am I awake? Or am I dreaming this. Blanking alarm clock got me out of bed, so yeah, have opened gate, brought garbage to street, tried going back to bed, Precious wasn't going to let me sleep. Breakfast was made and eaten, usual 2 eggs, cheese on toast and Rice Krispies and Microwaved Coffee. At $30 a jar for coffee, I ain't pouring it down the drain and making a fresh pot. Thanks Stu for Starting the thread, by now you're probably heading to bed. Hopefully had a great time with Peter.
Mark, two words come to me " Kill switch" , but seriously hope it is a simple thing to fix.
And weather is, Cloudy and windy, probably wet ,7 C high 10 C ,or in American 45 F with a high of 50 F .
Today's agenda, after a nap, wife has some Barbie pieces to glue/ repair for when Granddaughters come over for Christmas.
Y'all have fun, G

Nothing is more suspicious than when everything is "going fine"... something's up...
Ask someone, "how you doin'?"
They always reply, "fine."
Meaning, Frustrated, Insecure, Neurotic and Emotional.

Might be as simple as the start button, just like many here have had.... try wiggling it when press the button or shoot some contact cleaner in there. It was previously in a dusty CA area so might be that... or not.
Entirely possible. Charged overnight, started immediately this morning.
I did wire brush the battery leads before reconnecting, although they were dry and not a scintilla of corrosion.

@Sadlsor when was the oil last changed on the GSA?
We're due 200 miles ago, waiting for a warmer weekend. Like the one upcoming.
Trying to make me feel guilty?
:)

Morning all! Grey and rainy here, we're getting hit with previously mentioned atmospheric river. The lawn squelches now as you walk across it, super saturated I believe is the technical term. The Weather Network says it's 8C with a predicted high of 11C. We also have yellow warnings (scale of green, yellow, red) for rainfall and wind. That's teach me to put up a cabana in December.....

I've been avoiding reading the news lately, not much there to uplift one's spirits during this Christmas season. And self dosing with various xmas treats seems to be working a bit...at least it's doing it's work on my waistline. I have a bunch of holiday time I need to burn so I think I may take at least part of next week off and come back in January. There's projects galore to be done and I need time to do them.

Reading the above disjointed ramblings, it's clear further caffeine is required. Hope everyone has a great day!

Morning Stu & All, from sunny, Southern Utah!

Currently it is 46F, up from 23F and heading for 57F. No breeze yet, later, we might see the winds from the NW @ 4 to 5mph.

I had a visit from a young man yesterday that has started riding a motorcycle. So we were able to chat about his experiences so far and I showed him my bikes and shop and then a few of my videos of different rides I've done. He's a very smart kid, he should do fine.

Today, Chris and I will be heading to Costco. But not our normal monthly run, so hopefully, we won't spend as much as we usually do.

Eggs, bacon, toast & a Pepsi to start the morning.

Anyone :bk13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:
