Side case issues

Thanks for chiming in with the follow up!
(Keep Larry's number handy. You're right -- he knows some stuff, and some of it is actually useful!)

Thanks to all that tried to help. It was an issue of not knowing how the latches work. Igofar provided the necessary info and problem solved. Addressing the root cause of problems is almost always a challenge and creates lots of bandaids. Big thanks to igofar. He seems to know some stuff…
Oh yeah, there is no question he knows a LOT of stuff about the ST bikes. If there is anything he doesn't know it is likely even the Honda engineers don't know either. Our biggest worry is that he's going to start forgetting things one of these days!

Problem resolved.
Move along folks, nothing to see here….
The white courtesy phone rang, I answered, we talked for a couple minutes, and all is good.
Over a dozen replies and nobody saw the most obvious detail :rofl1:
I let the OP explain if he wants to.

Please post w/details.. Forums are useless unless folks actually share useful information that will help others.
Thanks

If you can't get the case open, then this is not going to be a great deal of help - although it might make you aware of what is happening inside.

I've not published this before - mainly 'cos just after I had written it all up, someone else posted exactly the same information - that one was better ! But right now, I can put my hands on my document. I'd have to go searching for the other one - sometime between around 2019 and 2021.

If you want detailed photos of any of those in the pdf file - I've still got the original JPGs - roughly 4k x 3k

The only time I have ever got stuck opening from the outside, it has been to do with a combination of lid needing to be pressed in; handle being in the wrong position; inner handle being in the wrong position; key being partly turned. If you do it in a rush, it is easy to get something jammed and the only way to release it is to work systematically and find out which bit is topping another bit from moving. Soemetimes it requires a couple of corrections.
This needs to be made an article for future reference. @Mellow

John is pointing out that the release flat needed to be lifted, not the carrying handle.
I was just poking fun at John because he didn’t insert an arrow on his picture.
No! Mr. Heath, that comment was directed at Aniwack (John Sibley)
I would never say anything negative towards you sir.

I realised Larry - and removed I my comment as soon as I found out Aniwack’s name was also John. Not quickly enough as it turned out. Your comment wasn’t negative anyway - it was a fun-poke. My comment was accepting your fun poke, and continued to poke fun at myself.
