Good morning all!
Sorry it’s motel fair today!
The coffee is so so!
I have arrived in Brooksville FL. I’ll pick up (not lift) my sister for breakfast.
It was a great time Tuesday night in Toledo!
I won’t bore you with too many details, but a couple of ole farts were enjoying the cold mugs!
Yesterday’s early drive wasn’t so much fun getting started!

Happiness smells suspiciously like fresh coffee... :coffee:

G'Day...

-1°/3°C, overcast, gray, damp... at least no precipitation...

benefit of coffee cartridges and sachets: always the same quality and taste... ☕

bit busy here at the office, folks panicking over the week ending... everywhere everything all at once... yeah, right... :cautious:

anyhoo... its Friday, another hour to go... 😎

gonna drop by the shed on my way home, to check in the split a/c A2A heat-pump...
then lunch
then a grocery run (its coupon time... -25% on selected items and that... I'm starting to act like my own grandma...)

Sat & Sun I'm going to be unsupervised, as ze GF has ze grand-kid (AKA full grown Gremlin) over...
So possible some wrenching time in the shed... nice...

enjoy your w/e!

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Brian.

It's clear and 4f, going to 12 with 10-20mph wind.

Yesterday, I decided to go to the gym instead of skiing.
Afterward, we went shopping at the local warehouse and stopped by our favorite Chinese place for linner.

Today, I'll probably visit the gym and hunker down to avoid the cold.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

Morning all, and thanks Brian for the I-can't-believe-it's-called-coffee.

-19/-25 here and still dark. High should reach -8/-15 with mostly clouds but perhaps some intermixed sun.

Just another Friday here. Nothing special except you lot.

As @He's Watching would say, Januaryland will be opening back up in 2 days so make sure you get your ticket to avoid standing in line.

Hugs,

Obo.

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the mystery fluid to start, Brian.

It's 3°F (yup- low single digits) and feels like seven below zero in Rockville. Brrrrrrrrr. At least it's sunny, so it looks pretty. Not sure which I hate more: sunny but very cold, or gray, overcast, dreary, and less cold. I'm gonna vote that I hate the dreary more, but it's close to being a tie.

We'll top out at 10°F with no threat of precipitation today, and evidently diminishing odds of getting a fresh dump over the weekend.

A late-afternoon doctor visit is the only agenda item for today. I'll be following up on findings from my recent physical plus other doctor visits in the past six weeks, and consulting about what they mean to my planned trip to plant coral in the Florida Keys in March.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Morning all.
Nothing personal, Brian, but I'll stick to my Black Rifle this morning. I've had the overnight-stay coffee offerings, and while some is good, most is so-so, as you say.
Nah, life is too short to drink lame breakfast blends.
At work we're waist-deep in a big project to move all our SAAS help docs to a different support system. About 1500 documents with illustrations and some with videos.
It's drudgery, but must be done. We're about one-third complete.
Weather is still cold, getting much colder this weekend.
Let's just bear it through this next month, and then warming will begin.
I'm certain winter won't last forever.

Good morning, folks.
Thanks for the caf,e Brian. Up here in Minneapolis, we've got a heat wave moving in this morning :roflmao-2x: 1F but feels at _2F, clearing, scattered light snow will be 10F afternoon or so. Have a wonderful Friday, happy day everyone!

You doing any ice racing, Tip?

Good morning all!

Brian, the starting fluid is greatly appreciated. I spent yesterday morning shoveling the roof of my garage and this morning there are a few joints requiring extra lubrication! There are also some indications I may have picked up a sinus cold as well.

-1F here right now, likely heading to a blistering +9F under mostly sunny skies before falling back into the negative numbers tonight. . The weather guessers are predicting slowly rising daytime temperatures for the coming week, nearing 30, while nighttime temps remain in the single digits and then another week of low temperatures overall. "Global Warming" my tail feathers!!!

I did hit the bank yesterday for more coin wrappers so I may spend some time this week putting them to good use. The closest thing I may have for an outdoor task will be to refill the bird feeder so I am planning on being warm and comfy indoors.

State? government is giving me a pain. It was voted last year to abolish car inspection in New Hampshire beginning this year, 2026. Some federal judge in Tennessee has blocked implementation because a company in that state who makes the emissions testing equipment protested, citing an old agreement between New England states requiring active efforts to reduce emissions. News reports say people are "panicking" to get their January inspections done. We have a 30 day grace period so I'm just gonna wait for the lawyers and politicians to argue a while before I waste money having some "technician" tell me my 2024 pickemup truck with under 50,000 miles is mechanically fine but "we recommend" $800 worth of unnecessary services.

Be safe, be careful and don't spend time in the doghouse unless it's heated!

Scott

G'mornin' from SoMD! It's been a few days, but don't worry I've been caffeinating to keep everyone safe and me out of jail. Thanks for the 2-cent swill, Brian. Anything is better than nothing and it's the thinking of all of us that counts!

The days here have been copy/paste since Monday: wake up in the singles/teens, crawl up to about the mid- or upper-20s, then slide back down. Not much melting, but I have over time chipped my way out to have a full-width useable driveway now, and the mailman can actually drive up to my box instead of get out of his van or just not deliver at all. As Keith reported, we don't expect to get much of any snow this weekend like down south (looking at you NC). I might get a dusting here but not gonna even sweat it. My backyard still looks like a giant luge track. I exposed a little grass for the Princesses to do their thing, but they insist on walking around first...of course. At least I've been able to WFH instead of fighting to find parking in the snow/ice mountain piles all over the DMV.

Today and tomorrow I finalize prep for our entry into the MCTFA (Maryland Community Theater Festival Association) competition. Today I trek 2-1/2 hours up to do tech, bring the remaining set pieces, mark the stage, and get sound/lights, then 3-1/2 hours home (traffic). Tomorrow we go on first at 11am (yes another 2-1/2 hr drive each way) then sit and listen to the judges pan our every move and my every decision. But maybe the actors will shine enough to get recognition which is what I hope for most. And maybe, JUST maybe, we are chosen to advance to the next regional round. There's only five entries this year, so statistically we have a 20% chance. But I do not expect to move on given the lack of depth this play has compared to others. I chose it as my directorial debut because it was simple, light-hearted, fun, and somewhat corny. Something I could handle. It is not deep-thought, clever, hilarious, or any other superlative...it's just cute. And I'm happy with that to gain the experience.

If there's one thing I've learned in all of this, it is COMPROMISE. You have an idea of what you want, but other things, people, and circumstances conspire to change it...sometimes for the better, other times not. True for many things in life as well, right? Anyways, it's been fun and maybe I'll do it again but not soon.

and consulting about what they mean to my planned trip to plant coral in the Florida Keys in March.
Sounds like a lot of fun!

Gotta get going. The coffee cup is empty and I feel the rage from within trying to escape again. Take care y'all!

Good Morning, Thanks for the Coffee Brian and Good to hear you had a Safe trip. 8 C warming to 10 C, Rain all day according to Phone.. Today's agenda, pickup Next Cycle of Anti Cancer Meds, and if traffic is not to bad, pay rent.
Have Fun Jd with your Play , which Reminds me about time I phone my B. G. Agent and see if they have any Movie work, or are still in Business.
Ok, Y'all behave, Not! Have fun G

Good morning, all, and thanks for the start-up, Brian. Safe travels!

We have lots of bright sunshine today but it's mighty chilly out there. Right now, we have -20°C/-4°F with a feels-like of -32°C/-26°F, and we'll eventually see a high of -14°C/7°F with a windchill of -22°C/-8°F, but not until around 7 p.m. There isn't much relief in sight, either - it's going to stay cold all weekend. Where's the hot chocolate, Fred?
There's lots of fluffy white stuff left from the big storm. The city crews are still clearing and will be doing so for a while yet. We didn't get clobbered anywhere nearly as bad as Toronto did, but it was bad enough. Lots of burst pipes and power outages, some for a few days with dire consequences, including one fatality - an elderly lady who died in her home waiting for the power to come back on. Several people I know experienced major power outages. One friend and her husband have lived in their house for many years and know their neighbours really well (a very good thing). One of their neighbours is a very deaf 92-year-old who lives alone, and when the power wasn't coming back on, my friend went around to check on her. When she got no answer after ringing and knocking on the door several times, she called other neighbours, who came out and started pounding on both the front and back doors and windows, with plans to break in if they had to. The elderly lady finally heard them and answered the door, and not a moment too soon - she was clearly disoriented and suffering from dehydration and hypothermia. An ambulance arrived and took her to hospital and the EMTs expressed their gratitude to all the neighbours who came to her rescue, saying that if they hadn't reached her when they did, she wouldn't have made it through that night. Thank goodness there are still good people left in the world!

@ibike2havefun: I hope the docs give you a clean bill of health so you can go enjoy your excellent adventure!
@jdmccright: Break a leg, and "Merde!" as they say in the world of theatre!

Everyone have a great day, stay safe and go safely.

Patty

Morning all! Grey and wet here. 10C right now with a high of 12C predicted.

Working from home today as I have to give my wife a ride to physio later. In a bit of a slow period work wise so will have to see what kind of billable trouble I can manufacture. (to be clear, my billable targets are artificial government make work, no one actually gets a bill, except as an accounting exercise moving money from pile A to pile B).

Hope everyone has a great day!

Morning Brian & All from sunny, Southern Utah!

Currently it is 45F, up from 18F and heading for 52F. The winds are already blowing from the NE @ 8, but later they will be from the N @ 8 to 10mph.

Brian, glad to hear you are making good progress on your trip south!

I survived my:old1:💩 procedure yesterday, thank goodness. According to the Dr. I'm okay. Nice to know, since a previous lighter test came up positive. :cautious:

Afterwards, we stopped at Cracker Barrel to eat! Steak & eggs for me! :giggle-2x:

Today, I don't know, Chris wants to go look in the boxes of books, out in the shed. I'm not sure I'm up to it. We'll see.

Boiled eggs, bacon, toast & OJ to start the morning. Pepsi(s) for later.

Anyone :bk13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:
