Sena Wave Technology

This has been discussed over on the GW board.

Real world is not too bad. Distance is limited to your access to cell service. Hypothetically you could have your phone app open (without a helmet or even a motorcycle) in Alaska, and talk to someone in Hawaii.

A really interesting app. Though it has a lot more social aspects than I'd ever be interested in. :rofl1:
But they are optional.

So... a voice over IP (using cellular data in this case) application that is intended for use by motorcyclists? I feel like Whatsapp could basically do the exact same thing.

It's supposed to work better with your Sena unit than a 3rd party app on your phone....

I have the app, and Sena headsets, but haven't tried it yet. I normally don't run cell data so the BT and MESH are usually fine when talking with the Mrs. who's on the back with me.

LOL I get confused trying to connect my 50S to zumo xt and phone much less net working:inpc1:

You should see the fun of connecting the 2018+ Goldwings with a headset and your phone....

There are 328 replies in the thread entitled: Guide to Ensuring Comms Connect and Work Consistently - and ACP and AA too!

And the guru's easy "how to" doesn't always work.

It's a real PITA.

Similar w/BMW setup so I don't use it, just the phone as the hub and everything pairs to that, works great.

Might help if traveling in a group and someone became separated and out of reach of mesh. However, we usually all have the route in a GPS thanks to Kevin Elliott. Worked for me one time to just follow the route.

Well, I actually have my Sena 50s connected to my phone & XT2, My phone connected to the XT2. But then I added 1,000 songs in a memory card and put it in the XT2 memory slot, and I'm able to get music, but sometimes it takes it a couple of minutes for the title to show up on the XT2. It'll play the music, but the title shown is not correct. :shrug2:

Yeah that's a great use case for this tech, I was with a small group of people out for a ride, one rider disappeared and we were worried they crashed. Ended up being nothing when we turned around to find them but sure would have been nice to just ask over the comms.

Ok I have to confess to being a troglodyte or maybe a luddite. I still preview my route and pay attention to the highway signs and ALWAYS take the BYPASS route regardless of what the AI is telling me!
