Yes, I’m tired...
Yes, it’s like a permanent condition...
Yes, that’s why I'm slurping coffee like its pure elixir vitae... :coffee:

G'Day...

3°/16°C, haze but supposedly sunny today...
after all the shocking headlines about 'arctic cold fronts', 'winter storms', 'bird flue', 'fuel prices going up'
they're now spreading panic with 'Sahara dust rolling in... do not let elderlies and small children outside'..... pfffff....
My guess is, it (the dust) does so since millions of years, vegetation/plant-life (hence all life) depend on the rich minerals
carried around this rock by the jet-streams, like the Amazon rain forest wouldn't exist without it... but what do I know...

where is my mug... <slurp!>... hot Nespresso... nice... ☕
some self baked bread with bio butter, jelly and more coffee later...

upon her explicit request, we re-visited ze GF's crash site yesterday... like running a little 'NTSB investigation'...
I even discovered the broken off front brake lever and a shard of the turn signal lens... overlooked by the fire brigade's cleaning...
ze GF took it well, still trying to figure out the cause and possible process leading to it...
observing a rider passing a car, heading the same way as she did, I grew a pretty good idea, while she still has only vague memory of it...
like the rock formation ahead, the trees, me/the ST about 600ft ahead... grass... BAM...

After that we treated ourselves to some excellent lunch at a place named Aviator & Aviator, with an obvious theme in their decoration,
and me fearing that the sky might fall on our heads... ;)

today... maybe some gardening... we'll see...
enjoy your Sunday

Thanks for the start Martin, greatly appreciated. I am glad to hear ze GF is getting her head around the accident's details. The correct mindset is critical for lessening the chance of another.

I am a bit groggy this morning as well. Why is it that the low battery "chirp" on various gizmos and gadgets ONLY activates at 2:45 in the morning and seems to emanate from everywhere and nowhere?

The weather this morning is far better than the misty rain and ice glazed roads that greeted me yesterday. It is currently 33F with a forecasted high of 54F under a clearing and sunny sky. The snow piles all around are rapidly shrinking with the warmer sun but some are significant enough that they will be with us a while.

I'll start a loaf or two of sourdough bread after my next cup of coffee. Lunch will likely be something charred on the grill at my grandson's birthday party. Dinner will be whatever refrigerated leftover doesn't attack when I pull it from the back of the bottom shelf.
Of course no near spring day will be complete without the near daily run of the vacuum to collect the sand tracked in from the now muddy driveway. Even though I take my shoes off by the door it somehow manages to get tracked everywhere!

Be safe, be careful and stay caffinated!

Scott

Waiting for the Black Rifle to drip through.
Why am I up at this insane hour? Because I went to bed early, and my body said it's time to wake up, AND because there is some uncertainty and mild disorientation when some faceless, nameless people tell us "Well, we shall just make everyone turn their clocks forward one hour, just because we can! Even though there is no rationale or reason for it, in this day and age. No one needs that hour today, so we deem it disposable."
Almost like each January 1... now we have to write a new number whenever we're using dates. What's wrong with the old number? Did it break? Is it no longer usable? Did it spoil somehow? Can we use it again, ever?
These are the potentially hazards when I come to the keyboard with NO coffee in me yet. Better wear your helmet, there may be falling debris.
One thing about this early Sunday morning, there is no new Itchy Boots episode yet. You'd think with her being a half-a-day ahead of us (maybe, I guess, possibly, but who really knows) that it would have been posted by now.
Last thing, I'm pretty sure this will be the last thing because I just heard the coffee pot choking out the last of the hot water, we have a father-son guitar duo coming back for worship today, and they are both phenoms with the 6-strings, acoustic and electric. I'll be running the video but looks like I'll have to ride in the rain today.
This time the weather-guessers got it right.
So waking up early can work in my favor today.
Last thing, and this time I promise it's the last thing (for this post)... have some coffee before you post here.
Don't be like me... because now you see what can happen.

Good morning everyone

Thanks for ze Kaffe Herr Martin.

It's cloudy, foggy, and 61°F in Rockville, the early sign of three or four days of lovely-but-unseasonable warmth before it all crashes back to "normal" on Thursday. The highs from now until then: 71, 74, 80, 78, then Thursday 48. That's going to be a ruuuuude shock. Until then, it'll be open windows in the house for a good early-spring airing-out.

I'll putter around today, doing bits of this and that and whatnot..

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Morning all, and thanks Martin, for the start-up.

7C and rain, which they say it today's mantra. It has helped with the packed snow in the driveway, clearing it quite nicely. The ice still rains in some large thicker sheets, and may require the ice chopper this afternoon.

Not much happened overnight that I'm aware of, other than the clock thing. Some here auto changed, some did not, so it'll be an Easter Egg like hunt to see what's correct and what needs a nudge. Reminder to check you smoke detector batteries too. They say to do it when the clock change yearly (as a minimum) but Scott's 2:45 reminder story is another great reason to do it early. You certainly don't want a lazy or dead smoke detector on your ceiling, especially if you really end up needing it.

That reminds me. Technically your ears are really smoke detector detectors.

There's your sound advice of the day. Now go find some'at to do.

Cheers,

Obo.

Good morning and thanks for the coffee start, Martin.

We made it to Geneva yesterday, checked into our hotel, and found an excellent Italian restaurant a few blocks away.
This morning, we had a walking tour, and are on our own walk at the Greenway around Lac Leman. We're in no rush...

Dinner will be somewhere. I'm trying to talk Brenda into Kababs...

Enjoy your day,
Steve

Mornin’ y’all. Thanks, Martin.

52/65 and cloudy today, after a few days of near record heat. Some early weeds need mowing, so I guess I’ll change the oil in the mower and get started. 15 year old mower, with 900 hours and still runs like a top. Must be the Rotella T-6.

The Starlink app says my antenna is 8 degrees off, so another adventure on the roof awaits. Would have fixed it yesterday, but the 35 MPH gusts kept me grounded.

At least, there’s only one clock to adjust this morning. Might just leave it until this Fall and it would correct itself.

John

Good Sunday Morning!
Thanks for the coffee and have my helmet on!

Currently 71f lazy, hazy, works for a Sunday, going to reach high 80s! Might see rain this afternoon, we need it.

Steve, in the last image..
ummmm.. there’s something going on back there.. 🤔

A few tasks to complete on the bike today before the heat decides to take over.

Daylight saving?! Pffft!
Even my dog doesn’t care.. it’s still early! 😂

Good morning all!
Thanks for the start!
Wow, I’m glad to see everyone this morning!

BTW John.
Great oil, in my humble opinion!

Presently 73F mostly sunny & warm, with a high of 89. That’s 24 - 30 C for us Canucks!

I have a boat load of folks, (8 + the Captain) I’m hauling up the Caloosahatchee River, to a picnic in the Franklin Lock Park. It should be a good outing!
Enjoy your day!

a later start than usual phone says about six while the clock on the stove says five.... I don't have a cat, so somebody must have snuck in while I was sleeping...
looks like seven and eight degrees C and sunny here today, will get out for a short ride but lots to do
Always good to revisit how these collisions happened; I've revisited a few myself gratefully none recently it can be a bit like working on your own car though
mentally and emotionally challenging but when you get through it I think you're always better off
Wish everyone a good one OIP (1).jpg

In case you aren't aware, and if it hasn't changed since I was there in 2023, Geneva offers tourists to the city use of their public transportation system free of charge. This includes the buses, trains, transport to and from the airport, and the water taxis that cross the lake. They make it really easy, you can get the free pass directly from your hotel front desk.

Yes, I know . The trolley passes our hotel regularly.

G'mornin' from SoMD! Wow it is unexpectedly warm here, 70F/21C and wearing shorts! Still gray out as I think there's a stalled front over us...it can't decide what to do except hold us hostage from true spring. Deranged forecasters are still speaking that "s" word in the 14-day forecast. I'll need more coffee to drown out their nonsense, thank you Martin!

I've been on a huevos rancheros kick for breakfast lately. My dad turned me on to the dish long ago when he would order it at the Morrison Inn in Colorado. It was messy, sunny-side up eggs, green chile salsa, cheese, sour cream, crispy tortilla, but he said trust me just try it. I. WAS. HOOKED,

The restaurant now no longer serves it (to my knowledge) as it has changed hands, menus, etc. But I've cobbled together a pretty good enough facsimile. My version is actually not too caloric yet deeply satisfying, filling and delicious. I've even lost a few pounds! Anyhoo, fuel up on that plus some coffee and I'm ready for more outdoor excursions before it decides to rain again. Av brakes are still giving me fits, need to get it sorted out before I have to start going back in to the office. But also need to service the lawn mower and other eqpt. Gee, there's just so much fun that awaits!!!

The Starlink app says my antenna is 8 degrees off, so another adventure on the roof awaits.
Given there are about a million of those satellites up there, I'm intrigued that being off that little would significantly degrade performance. But then again, it's not my a** up on that roof. Do take care.

Well, I'd better get on with my daylight-savings-shortened, longer day. Take care y'all!

Morning Martin & All from sunny, Southern Utah!

Currently it is 46F, up from 20F and heading for 61F. A slight breeze now, but later the winds will be out of the WNW @ 7 to 8MPH. According to the Weather Guessers, no snow/rain in the near future.

Dang, this time change sure got you all going this morning! :scared2:

Yesterday I decided to poison the weeds that were popping up. I then attach this bush my neighbor has against the fence in the front. It's been hanging over and blocking me from getting the weeds under it, so I took the cutters to it. It's no longer hanging over on my side. ;)

I'm sure glad our church doesn't start until 1:30pm, with the time change, we still have plenty of time to get ready. LOL

Boiled eggs, bacon, toast & OJ to start the morning. Pepsi(s) for later.

Anyone :dr13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:

The place I linked, in Hungary, has these on special right now.
Yeah... well...
Hungary isn't just 'a state' like in the US... its a different nation...
Means going there involves border-crossing, waving around passports, having your car searched, buying foreign currency, getting charged exchange rates, ending up with small change you're then stuck with forever, etc...

Our system runs on local employees receiving decent salary, which they then re-invest into the local economy, which then also finances health- & medical insurance/care, pension plans, and so on and so forth...
We here have the strongest production regulations on agriculture and life-stock, hence the most excellent, hormone and chemical free veggies and meat products imaginable... (even if they try to force other stuff down our throats with their Mercosur agreement no conscious consumer in his right mind would have ever agreed on... buy and support local farming is a big deal here...)

So: why should I burn two hours worth of fuel to go abroad for a lunch...
