G'morning all

There's Kicking Horse medium roast in the pot for you today.

It's an unsettled 62°F, cloudy, and breezy in Rockville, where the temperature forecast graph might make you downhill skiers think there's opportunity for one more run before winter ends completely:
1773306993780.png

We'll plunge from 62 into the high 30s over the next four hours and drop a bit more before a small evening recovery. Rain chances throughout the day are in the upper 90 percent range.

Mrs. Fun called yesterday evening to alert me that I may not need to travel to PA tomorrow after all. Apparently all three sisters are at least mildly unwell, their aunt is in the hospital (might be just the emergency room; that wasn't made clear), and overall progress toward the ultimate goal has been slow. "Too many bosses, not enough worker bees" was how she described their (lack of) approach and coordinated effort. She know how that infuriates me- when I'm asked to help I dislike being left idling while an endless discussion swirls around like a tornado trapped in a bathtub.

I'll find out today whether I need to go up there tomorrow or postpone to some later, yet-to-be-determined date.

It's Thursday so it's uke day for me.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Thx Keith!
Hope the missus and the others get better soon.
Sometimes it’s hard to stay away from the battle, but it might be wise..

7˚C/45f, 25mph wind from south, increasing to 56mph later, rain, several warnings…

Nothing much going on, made to much out of it yesterday, my hand told me too late….pain!

Light cooking in a bit.

Have a good one, don’t think about fuel prices!
Stu

Storm moving in last night.

Morning all, and thanks Keith, for the coffee.

I dislike being left idling while an endless discussion swirls around like a tornado trapped in a bathtub.

It's so draining, right?

Weather here quickly hopped up to 6 after the overnights freezing. The freezing rain is now just fog and rain, but we did lose power twice overnight. Temps will head downward to -6 and it's supposed to transition back thru the nastiness to snow. We'll wait and see, but I'm taking it so far as a win compared to what it could have been here.

Lots to do, so little time, and even less money. Best get at 'er then.

Hope everyone has a most excellent day!

Good morning and thanks for the coffee, Keith .

It's a foggy 54f this morning , rising to 57 while clouds remain.

Yesterday, I had a good visit with my physician and picked up some groceries.
We had a late lunch at our local Chinese place, before settling in for some reading and TV.

Today, I'll head over to my barber, before some gym time.

Enjoy your day,
Steve

Good morning all!
Thanks Keith, I’ll enjoy a cup or two!

Presently 71F (20C) it will reach 86 (29) later this afternoon, tonight we’ll enjoy a planned thunderstorm, whether we like it, or not!
I’m looking forward to the breakfast tomorrow with our little group, it’s the only one I can attend until I return in the fall!
It’s the little things like that, that I believe are important in life.
Enjoy your day!
WB

My coffee mug isn’t a mug anymore...
It’s a life raft... :coffee:

G'Day... or not...

4°/14°C, mostly overcast, kinda damp, but the weather-guessers believe it shouldn't rain... we'll have to see about that...

home Nespressor and office Nescafé have long worn off... ☕
In fact: I just finished my lunch break... :food1:

Yeah, that useless workshop yesterday afternoon...
things left undone, what a waste of (my) time... almost lost it during all that BS-japing... 😒
"... now we all do something together: clap and sing..." pfffff...
And of course has the burden of finding solutions for the issues instantly been rolled off onto the staff:
"... and now we all write the problems on the red cards, and the cures for them on the blue ones..." (great, back in Kindergarten... 🤔)
so: the conclusion is that the employees are now held responsible for all the lack of management abilities... right... 😆
Yeah... who would have expected that, what a concept... just brilliant... ;)

Anyhoo... so I had to catch up on my tasks zis mornin', a complex with 16 outdoor units... printing construction plans, measuring pipe-runs, etc, etc, etc...
Of course not without getting interrupted with the usual "...I just sent a WhatsApp... I just sent an email... why haven't you responded yet!!..." ... cuz' I'm workin'... 🤪

And the new plotter paper I'd asked already in December for, has of course still not been ordered by the "colleagues", so I'm on my last roll now... :devilish:

It's Thursday so it's uke day for me.
Something to lighten up then... ;)

What a joker... 🙃

but: tomorrow is Friiiiidayyyyyy...

Plot, or conspiracy???

Keith, thanks for the coffee offering.

Cloudy with light rain forecast to start soon. It is 69F maybe hitting 75F later. If you think that is a bit high for the frozen north where I do my hermit stuff (New Hampshire) you would be correct. Monday at 4:30AM I hit the road with 27F temps and icy side roads. After a slight detour to North Carolina to visit an ex-boss I arrived in Florida yesterday evening, melting in 95F weather!!! Yes, I drove.
I'll be here a week or so.... visiting a younger brother.
After breakfast we will go see what kind of trouble we can get into! With a tractor, Model A pickup, chainsaw, possible home renovation with demo, rebuilding, electrical and plumbing...... what can go wrong?

Be safe, be careful and watch out for heat stroke!

Scott

Gooooo'mornin' from SoMD! Thanks for the early sips, Keith. And yes, we'll be experiencing the same freefall in temps here shortly after you. They are actually throwing that "S" word in the forecast, too. It was 60F/15.5C when I grabbed my first cup an hour ago, already down to 54F and very windy...it could get messy but there's no accumulation expected.

One $5 carb adjustment tool later and the hedge trimmer is finally running top speed now. Have to see what else I can get done before the storm really kicks up, but work will take precedence of course. Hopefully just a few more days of professional homelessness before I can have a place to put my stuff.

Live to fight another day, I say. In community theater, we deal with such "volunteering" all the time. People show up to help, but either the plan isn't coordinated/thought-out enough or things have to move in a certain order instead of all at once. Leaving several ppl standing and wondering why they came. They leave and we're stuck doing the heavy stuff we NEEDED them for. Anyways, hope the SILs feel better.

Ooh, thinly-veiled condescension...that rallies the troops. Good leadership doesn't happen when times are good, good leadership happens when times are bad. They either right the ship or help sink it. I do hope your situation improves for yourself, Martin. Just for your good work you get an extra juice box!

Time to pour another cup and get back to it...take care y'all!

Bonjour tout le monde, and thanks Keith, for the Canadian coffee, eh? Good stuff, that there Kicking Horse!

Well, as I had hoped, the ice storm didn't hit us quite as hard as expected, but it did hit hard enough to leave 200,000 people without power across the province, 32,000 of them in Montreal. Luckily, my power stayed on, though my lights did flicker a little while ago. @Andrew Shadow: did your power stay on, Andrew? Here on the island, most of the precipitation fell as rain throughout the day yesterday, but things got gnarlier when the temps dropped. Freezing rain fell all night and it was windy as all get-out. Trees, cars, sidewalks, etc. are coated with ice this morning, but at least the precipitation seems to have stopped. The current temperature is 0°C/32°F with the continuing stiff wind making it feel like -7°C/19°F, and it will get colder from here, rather than warmer. We do seem to have gotten a dusting of snow over the ice at some point, and "they" say we may get more light flurries today. Looks it'll stay cold for the next little while and we're supposed to be getting a dump of snow on Saturday. Sigh. So much for those lovely 3 days of spring!

OK, time for more coffee. Everybody have a good one, stay safe and go safely.

Patty

Right... normally they would at least serve some pizza as affordable, high-morale, easy-to-implement perk, don't they? ;)

But I'm in trouble however I maneuver this...
To quit now, means not getting my full (summer) vacation pay... (which they delay anyway...)
To wait further could mean they go bankrupt by then, so again no pay...
Catch 22... pfffff...

Lights flickered at least half a dozen times but nothing beyond that. All night long I heard ice creaking and cracking on the roof as well as chunks of ice falling off of the roof, gutters, windows, etc.. Sounded like animals in the attic at some points. Considering how bad this could have potentially been we got off easy as the storm changed tracks just enough to lessen the onslaught.

Morning all! Grey and wet here, even had a bit of hail. 5C currently (1C with the windchill) and a predicted high of 7C

Brought the new pup into the office today. So far, she's had multiple treats from multiple people in the first fifteen minutes. I believe she likes coming to work....

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi Scott
Are you near North Fort Myers?
I’m headed north from there on the 18th to Brooksville.
“If” any one of you close to my route north, would like to have a meet up, I can see what will work!
So far, it’s Brooksville to South Carolina
S C to Virginia
VA to Toledo
OH to Canucksville
Not sure on the exact roads yet.
I don’t mind detouring within reason!
@Nashcat ??
Regards
Brian AKA Whisker Bill
