Weekend was short, but OK though...
Friday that comedian on stage thing (no singing... what a relieve...)
The fella was locally a big thing on stage and TV throughout the 70ies, 80ies and 90ies...
(like playing a grumpy, clumsy inspector in a series making fun of the local law enforcement...)

Saturday garden center and grocery run...
I handled like 400kg/880lbs plastic bags with rose mulch... 🏋️‍♂️
(smart me dropped the first 4 bags off the palette there, as they were wet from the rain, so we get 12 dry bags weighting a lot less... 🤓)
Interesting that the mass you buy on expensive fertilizers, lawn sand, seeds, special soils, potted plants, etc...
equals pretty much the tonnage of what you've to haul out on garden waste inside that big recycling bin... 🤔
The 1.8kW electric silent 'roller shredder' I'd found on sale some time ago (to promptly receive the "what do we need that for?!" flaming...)
again served oh so well in crumbling all the trunks and twigs ze GF had snipped off everywhere into 1/2" pieces...

In the Afternoon I had to endure another family gathering... thin/weak coffee, warm drinks, never-ending yapping... ;)

Sunday ze GF first removed all the wood-chips around her rose-bushes to distribute the mentioned 400kg of 'new soil' there...
Meanwhile I grabbed the small pressure washer to clean the PV-panels, garden shed, entrance canopy, terrace roofing and patio tiles...
In the afternoon finally: doin' nuttin'... lounging in the reclining deckchairs, enjoying the sun... ⛱️

So, and now we're back in the mine... not sure how to proceed in a sustainable way there... 🤔

I mean when they pay barely enough so folks won't quit,
they must be aware that people work just enough to not get fired... right?

Anyhoo... have a nice start into the new week... :cool:

Yesterday we had a beachwalk. Upon the return the wind got worse and we were pretty sandblasted.

Peters birthdayparty was as expected.
Good food, yummie cakes, there was even one former motorcyclist. He now has moved forward to paragliding and playing accordion, not simultaneously I guess….

Today is a walk for some groceries, and some cooking

5˚c/41f, quite sunny, 10 mph breeze from south.

Today, I’ll complain…..33 and dropping. Temperature will fall below freezing today, and won’t stop until it reaches 25F, tonight. Couldn’t go to bed last night until threat of tornados had passed, which was around 11:30. I’m sure more limbs are down from the 70 MPH straight line winds. Did I mention the 2” of rain that fell. 2000+ without power in the county. Pffftt.

Just one more cup, while I wait for the sun to appear, so I can step out and check for damage.

I’m off to attend my last Monday morning training (ole boys) meeting for this month. When I return about November, I’ll start attending again.
I’m going to miss my pals, as well as the Friday breakfast group!
Currently 67F, more rain again today!!

Thanks for the coffee, Martin.

It's 63°F, cloudy, and wet indicating rain fell overnight. More is expected around 1300 hours, with a high of about 70 due at some point as well.

I'll head to the gym in a few moments (have to finish my coffee first) then hit the grocery store, then putter aimlessly around the house. I feel the urge to build another more tool storage unit beginning to stir, but don't yet have an idea of what I'll use to construct it. It's time, and past time, to do a serious inventory and sorting-out of all the scraps, offcuts, and leftovers cluttering up the shop. That'll give me a sense of what I've got to work with, which in turn may influence the size and scale of the project, along with an assessment of what it might be used to store.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

It's 38f and raining, rising to 58 for today's high temp.
Rain is the theme of the day, and wind will add to the mix, later.

Yesterday, I finally got out to do stuff.
I borrowed the neighbor's dog, and took a little under 3 mile walk in the "Outback". There's still snow on the trails, so footing was problematic.
After I pressed "Post Reply" yesterday, I went to check on Kailua, who was under the bathroom roll-out cabinet. She was gone, and hiding in the living room couch. We gave her time to chill, and eventually upended the couch to collect her and put her in the room with the others. They chilled out there all day.

I have a leftover PVC board from another project that I used to make a barrier for under the cabinet, so we don't need to deal with hiding cats again.

Brenda and I made a Home Depot trip and bought some mortor to fill the chinks in the fieldstone foundation. I'll do that as I have time. We had to go to ANOTHER Home Depot to find a 12' piece of hand rail for the stairs going to the second floor. We've existed without for 45-ish years, but the upcoming surgery, us aging in place, and grandkids finally did the trick, convincing us to do this. I'll cut that and polyurethane it this week.

Since I was going to read anyway, I decided to do that in the spare room. Curiosity got two cats to investigate, and we had an impromptu petting and exploration session. Monica is the explorer, it seems, followed by Kailua. Monica eventually figured out that she could jump the child gate, and she's exploring our downstairs. Kailua checked out the rest of the spare room and me, while I was there. I predict that she'll be the next explorer. Laguna will be a work in process.

So things are coming along with the cats.

Today, I'll take a call from my sister in the morning, and we've got an afternoon appointment with our financial advisor.

I did something similar in our bedroom. Brie liked to get into the void space under the headboard of our bed, which would have been a place from which it would be impossible to extract her should she choose to remain.

When making my rolling tool storage cabinet I had done some test-fitting of the dado setup, yielding a T-shaped scrap 4-5" wide across the top, 6" or so along the vertical part of the T, and long enough to cut into two pieces that stand on end. They fit nicely in the gaps between the headboard / side units and pedestal on which the mattress sits, forming a barrier that Brie can't get past.

The look of surprise and disappointment she gave me when she first encountered them was priceless, and amusing.

Apart from causing miserable pain in my hands, this yo-yo weather is making a mess of things! Mother Nature seems to have decided that an impromptu, 24-hour warm-up was a good idea, so our current temp of 5°C/41°F will soar to 14°C/57°F today, before plunging back down to well below freezing. The rain that's currently falling will stop for a while, then start up again this afternoon. It will fall heavily this evening before turning to snow later tonight and then blowing snow early tomorrow morning. I suspect the heavy rain will remain as ice under the snow, so conditions might be treacherous tomorrow. Hope there aren't too many broken St. Paddy's Day ankles.

And on that note, I'm off. Everybody have a good one, stay safe and go safely.

We had a cat once that was so deathly afraid of everyone and everything that she tore a hole in a box spring and squirted into that! I had to cut a bigger hole in the other end to flush her back out and sew it up. Anyhooooo....

G'mornin' from SoMD! Thanks for the Mornin' Jumpin' Joe, Martin! It was a late night last night in the garage, so the jolt will be good to keep me going, at least until the thunderstorms roll through. We're at 63F/17C, in transition between a warm front that just passed over and a nasty cold that will hit this afternoon, replete with storms, wind, hail, and possible tornadoes. Some school districts are already letting schools out early today and cancelling evening events in anticipation. Even the forecasters are saying to keep multiple notification means handy so we don't miss an alert...never heard that level of need for awareness so I guess they mean it. A few quick cells woke me up about 0645 with heavy rain patter on the roof. It was then that the Herd decided that then was good to feed them. Once fed and caffeinated, I can start my workday...yay.

More WFH, and no word yet on when this will cease. I hope/expect something of an update today. Otherwise boring. Nothing to write about.

It was a productive weekend at least. Picked up another snowthrower to refurb and an engine to replace on a mower that was smoking...scored cylinder wall. Another mower I'm trying to sell off was also a smoker, I realized it was the same engine type as one I've had for years just sitting around and had been picking parts/bolts off of bc it had a bent crankshaft. Well, now that I have an expensive shaft straightener jig I was able to reemploy it...I swapped all the pieces that were missing and the darned thing fired right up with a shot of carb cleaner! So, hopefully I can get those two out of my driveway soon but nothing else will likely happen today...maybe tonight once the storms blow through.

Starting up rehearsals for our upcoming show in mid-April...taking the one-act we just did to the eastern shore. Feedback was received, some discarded. Definitely going to do some things I wanted to but couldn't the first time.

Anything else I can think of will have to wait. Take care y'all!

Nothing important to say this morning, agenda is empty, gate opened and breakfast made and eaten, working on second cup of coffee. 5 C outside and raining,it might stop in the afternoon, and warm up to 11 C. Last night's dinner was good, Oldest daughter and Granddaughters came over with Meat balls and Spaghetti, made for a enjoyable time, nothing like family hugs. Think I will take my Dogs advice and have a morning nap. Y'all survive Monday, G

That's EXACTLY how it is in my household. As Roz never, ever drinks coffee, my mug system remains intact.
Not like the sad, but extremely rare instance when I drop my primary mug outside on the driveway.
As I also extremely rarely post in the coffee thread after I leave the house, today was exceptional.
Or, rather, today was an exception.
While actually, today is both of those.
I'm always listening to local talk radio while I get ready for work, and so I was aware of the strong wind advisory for the Birmingham area, which included "possible" snow flurries way up there in north Alabama.
Ride to work, 34 degrees, supposed to warn to the 40s.
Uh-uh, nope!

Yeah, I'm the guy always saying we almost never get snow in Birmingham.
But today it's happening, and the weather guesses missed this one... they whiffed big time.
Tomorrow I'll tell you about my weekend spent failing at a simple toilet makeover.
If I remember.
@Peppermint and @Obo take yer darn snow back! We don't need that nonsense down here.
I have to ride home at the end of the day, y'know.
EDIT: and no, I didn't take this picture through a screen door. That's falling snow making it look fuzzy.

Afternoon Martin & All from some cloud cover, in Southern Utah!

Currently 53F, up from 27F and heading for 64F. The winds are blowing from the NNE @ 6 to 9mph. Later, they will be from 13 to 24mph.

We'll be drying out for the next couple of weeks (or more), by the looks of things.

My son and his daughter, arrived yesterday. They are in his converted ambulance.

His daughter choose to sleep in our extra bedroom, while he was out in his RV. Guess it got a little cold for him. He does have a heater, but didn't have it regulated correctly, so he froze, then got too hot and then back to freezing. :rolleyes:

They barrowed my truck to do a little grocery shopping. And will head out tomorrow for the CA Desert, where it should be over triple digits! :redface-2x:

I probably won't get much done today, other than visit with them.

Chris made us pancakes and bacon to start the morning. I've already had one Pepsi, so I'll have another, later.

What is going on with the weather,we here on the wet coast are expected to have a high of 52 F . In case y'all don't know We are at 49 degrees North. Is the earth tilted more?

I dunno, but for a while now, I have believed our world - at least, or especially, the USA - is wildly out of balance.
