These images are from the service manual that I have. It shows the right cylinder cams, idler sprocket being timed to the TF1 mark on the crank, but the left cams and idler sprocket being timed to the TF4 mark on the crank. I don't think this is what you have done? My manual is for the 91-93 model.

If this works BIG TIME thanks for the info I'ma do this tomorrow and crank it over with wrench and see how it goes, there is some kit and miss info out there on this basic procedure surprisingly perhaps. Yeah, maybe it's a older motor on the 95 frame like I mentioned it was a project and everything was mix match feel to it while digging in, hope it works and I apologize to the ST1100 Forum for my sloppy presentation of this project!

Thanks they had probably replaced engine components with different year which is bad when you be digging into it without knowing the engine like over here, though that's what's gotta be going on, like I said it's a $300 marketplace bike. Thanks big time if this works out!

I don't get it though the belt is on the entire time or rotate with belt off then rotate then slide on the belt to the left side cams? You know what I mean anyone?

You apparently have valve interference. So… for peace of mind, quit trying to figure it out and just pull the damn belt and the camshafts and follow the service manual install carefully. Then you’ll know it’s correct!
It might be older engine on newer frame it's gotta be timing the valves were only .003 off the most, already did that by the book

The model years of the engine and the frame should have nothing to do with this. T1 at #1 cyl @TDC is the same on all engines. You say you did everything by the book, but you still have valve interference. So… start over, redo it by the book. Again - my recommendation: take the belt and the camshafts off and do a complete install from scratch by the Honda Service Manual. This is my last word here.

@andrew24 ... the keywords here are "and the camshafts" it sounds like you have the pulleys in time but the camshafts need to be in time with the pulleys/gears. It is obvious that someone has removed a cam(s) and put it/them back in wrong. The cams can be installed out of time anywhere from 1-359 degrees even with the belt and pulleys in time

The lobes are set like this with markers theoretically flush in these photos the pistons would me TDC at the lobes closest to the cam sprocket

Shouldn't the cam lobes and bearing surfaces be bright and shiny clean? Is that surface rust or just dirty stains from oil?

That Dawn Powerwash stuff works amazing. Along with powerful grease cutters, it has water in it as well.

Got it working, next question, what are these relays? When it's wired up the one with red plug clicks and it's got 12.70v

As seen here, checking connector strength as I type this but don't think that's the deal with it might need to replace one

It could be the ABS main relay, front pump motor relay and rear pump relay for the ABS system, need to get all the colour wires to determine which connectors they are.
Attached is a wiring diagram for the92-95 ABS model. Look at the centre top right, I think those might be the relays in question
