I never imagined that this could be possible, except I now find that I’m buying this for my grandson’s birthday.

It’s an automated chessboard, where the chess pieces move automatically. If you’re playing a remote opponent, his chess men will physically move on your board. If I hadn’t been told first, it would have scared the bejesus out of me, just watching.

I guess this isn’t more far fetched than me talking to an Alexis speaker to turn on a light, after bouncing the command off a satellite.

They have been around for decades.
Aside from the Mechanical Turk I first saw them around in the early '80s.

At that time I got a Milton Bradley Grandmaster Chess Computer (very lofty title) that was fun for awhile. But using it sounded like a barista make a double half caff decaf... But it was fun for a while. But it was also predictable and didn't need Bobby Fischer or Kasparov to beat it.

Ok this is lightyear's ahead of what I had back then. I'm listening to the review now. It's probably not in my future for the aesthetics as the review mentioned. Then there's the charging. But it's still pretty darn cool.

Using AI should make for much better 'competition' though that's something I don't need compared to what I had. There was mention of looking at a computer screen that puzzles me. I just want the board and I. Anyway your grandson is a lucky kid.
