I removed these plastic rings from the gas cap vent tubing. I didn’t think they were OEM until I saw them in another photo on here. Are they intended to allow the tubing to slide freely while clamped?

Dunno how or why you'd removed them...
they attached to the vent/bleeder above & below the metal clamp on the tank, preventing named hose from slipping down/getting pulled up while handling the cap...

Wouldn't normally come off that hose...

But I managed to nick a photo showing the location:

Are they intended to fit tightly to the tubing and snug up to the hose clamp on the tank? Mine are loose and slid down the tube.

I put one on and located it where the tank clamp is. When the clamp screw is tightened it holds the tube snugly.

Those plastic bushings might as well just be simple indicators for assembly line workers and/or any mechs dealing with that breather hose later on...
Never tempered with mine, will be at the shed on Friday and check on my stored treasures if those are indeed loose or firmly attached...

A spares fiche doesn't help, it lists that vent line simply as a standard TUBE,FUEL.4.5X550, P/N 950014555040...
