G'mornin' from SoMD! Thank you kindly for the liquid courage today, Obo. It is cloudy and cool here, though 61F/16C doesn't lend one to believe it. Tomorrow is supposed to be very nice here, great for a ride in and lunchtime volleyball. I just need to hang on through tomorrow afternoon.
Still well below the rainfall average for the year, but we did get some good rain last night and overnight. Just managed to get home before it really opened up over me, all I got was some spittles, even when the road I normally travel was closed by police. Looked like they were repairing some power poles. So, it included a 20-minute, 7-mile detour through more back roads. I have decided to mount the new rear tire soon, so I have to gather the three "magical" O-rings that go into the rear hub. I bought the tire on an Amazon special that got announced here some time last year, and it's been hanging in my garage since. Plus, it's due for an oil change, ~7k miles.
I had kind of forgotten why I like to ride. I don't go to any special places or away for weekend rides, and I don't ride in groups (there are maybe two STs in the entire area). Quite the opposite, I commute, and that is certainly NOT enjoyable. At least, not the traffic parts. And I do errands like grocery shopping or taking packages to be shipped out. I don't have the radio or music blasting like I would in the car, just me and the bike. And I think that's what it was made for and why I like it...the simplicity and me focusing on something for once. And while it isn't perfect, the ST is just feels ideal for me. Power, (modest) comforts, utility, yet also minimalist, and looks (though many would call dated). I know there are newer and nicer bikes to be had, but for me at least for now I am content. It's been said by many before: if you ride, WHATEVER you ride...just ride.
Take care y'all!
