That's funny. I definitely see it now that you mention it. I know it's hard to judge scale based on that image, but that's as long as I can make them given the constraints of the airbox and the space needed between the openings so there's no interference between the opposing stacks.

If only there were a way to make the airbox bigger... :unsure-2x: I have an idea on the table once I can test out the two stack designs... :wink-2x:

The general rule of thumb is short stacks are for high rpm power and long stacks are for low end. The long one I designed is about an inch shorter than stock, but has the bell mouth inlet so that may make up for the shorter length.

To answer your question, I have no idea if either will make a noticeable difference. My biggest regret about this project is that I can’t afford dyno time for everything I make along the way. So it’s going to have to be seat of the pants until it all comes together and it needs a real tune by a real tuner.

If I notice a difference with either or both, I’d like to get a couple sets out into the wild to get some peer reviews because it could be something I’d consider bringing to market. As with everything else I say in this thread: we’ll see what happens! 🙂

Thanks... I suppose that means the stock stacks are for old farts like me who get nervous at 10 over the limit! :)

Seriously, I'll be following your posts as I envy those like you (many here) who aren't afraid to dig into a bike and have the knowledge, skill and experience to do so. As for myself, I'm still traumatized from bleeding the brakes last summer.

I've previously seen pictures of your ST elsewhere on the web and love how you managed to hide almost all the fugly bits. :thumbsup:

LOL! To be entirely fair, the stock power is good enough for me and I find myself generally doing about ten over as well. But if some is good, more is better and as with the rest of the bike, I can't leave well enough alone. :)

All it takes to do this stuff is to just, well... do it. And vet your sources. Some guy on FB saying such-and-such isn't nearly as reliable as a white paper. But bleeding those ABS brakes? No Sir, no thank you. I'm traumatized just thinking about it.

Yep, some pictures of my build escaped the thread and got out into the wild at some point. I still have them all in my FB photo albums but have my profile on lockdown. Wait until you see it in the spring with the paint and powder coat I have in mind.
