Mornin, y’all. I haven’t made the coffee in a while, but I’m up and here it is, ready for your enjoyment. The brew this morning is Community Coffee, New Orleans Blend. Not for the faint of heart.

Let’s see….68/80 and more rain. 7” in 10 days has moved us from extreme drought to regular drought, but it’s not over yet. More rain expected for the next 10 days.

Yard work today, cutting fallen limbs and burning the results. Burn in the rain, you ask? Yep, with some $5 a gallon elixir, and a leaf blower as catalyst, it burns very well.

John

Morning all, and thanks John for the coffee. It's excellent!

5C here and cloudy, headed to 10C. I brought the cage to work as I was running slow and by the time I got all ATGATT'd up I'd have been 15 mins late vs the 5 mins late in the cage.

Hope everyone has an excellent day!

Obo.

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the coffee with a hint of smoky overtone to its taste, John.

@Obo is it really possible to be late for work, when you're working on a weekend? I always felt like I'd get there when I got there and nobody had a right to complain about the time of my arrival (provided that it was within reason and there wasn't a time-fixed reason to be there at a specific moment).

It's 65°F in Rockville (feels like 58 though I'm not sure how: there's not a leaf stirring, even in the upper treetops), where the rapidly-brightening sky bodes well for a pleasant, sun-drenched day. The high will be 71 or so.

A bicycle ride seems like just the thing; now all I have to do is muster the energy and ambition to get it to happen. The odds are 50/50 if you're placing wagers.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

@ibike2havefun I've always been a stickler for being on time (coming and going,) other than for reasons out of my control. Something about being fair about working what I'm being paid for, and conversely; actually getting paid for what I work. I've got a coworker who, in a 6.5 hour day and not talking about actual productivity, is here for 4 hours. 30 mins late daily is the norm, then arrives and go takes a breakfast break, then an hour and half to two and a half hour lunch (we get an hour....) and usually leaves early. I don't want that kind of reputation at work. I like to be the person people know will be here to help.

I totally agree: be an honest workman, and expect fair treatment from your employer.

Is weekend work part of the expected schedule, or is it work over and above what you provide Monday through Friday? My post above was made on the assumption that working on the weekend was over and above the time you work on weekdays. If there's an expectation that you regularly work Saturdays as part of your normal schedule, that's a different story and then yes, you should be punctual.

Then again, more often than not I was among the first to arrive (it was not unusual for me to be THE first one in the door) and, slightly less often, THE last or among the last to leave. Although they were nearly universally diligent, team-oriented, conscientious, and hard-working, very few of my colleagues were both early arrivers and late departers on a day-in-day-out basis.

Good morning and thanks for the coffee , John.

42, going to 55 are the numbers for today.
The rain that arrived yesterday afternoon will stick around till around 11.

Yesterday was wet in more ways than one .
I got to flag turn 5, which was close to a porta John.
In other good news, there were no e-bikes out there . ..

Enjoy your day ,
Steve

Thanks for the coffee John, I can use it this morning!

It is 40F here and the gusty rain outside looks and sounds miserable. It is supposed to turn to just clouds by noon and make it all the way to 55F mid-afternoon. We will see.
Fortunately the land around my house is quite sandy and the water should drain away from the excavation for the new garage wall footings quickly.
Yesterday noon-ish I was in the driveway talking to the contractor when his helper standing nearby says "Is that a bear in your backyard?" Sure enough, a small bear was walking thru the yard and around the back of the excavation. It was nice seeing something other than mosquitoes!

Not much planned for today, some cleaning, maybe some bill paying, and maybe making a kielbasa casserole...... or maybe not.

Be safe, be careful and out for puddles on the road, thet could be deep.

Morning all. Black Rifle in the pot, double-dripped because the first filter folded over in the basket, so I poured the sludge through a new filter.
Just wasn't in the mood for cowboy coffee today.
What I AM in the mood for, is a free dirt riding clinic today about 90 miles north, that I learned about on a local farcebook page.
Never mind the 70% chance of rain today.
Which reminds me... I need to get on the road, to get to the dirt.
Or mud...
Have a great Saturday.
It can't rain forever... I'm hoping.

Didn’t take long til the first downpour. Dropped 1/4” while I was lacing my boots. The sky is clearing, but everything is still dripping.

Somebody explain. I do a search for Squirrel Feeder and get expected results, but when I search for Bird Proof Squirrel Feeder, all I get is Squirrel Proof Bird Feeders. Is Google dyslexic?

Asking for a furry friend.

John

Good Morning, thanks John for coffee and getting the Ball rolling. Today's agenda, empty the Van so we can get a Set of wing struts for a friends Airplane, and then get the Struts. Breakfast was eggs on toast, and Coffee. Mix of Sun and clouds 50 F with a high of not much more 64.
Well not much else to say about life, other than to wish everyone a great weekend G

Morning John & All from sunny, Southern Utah!

Currently it is 59F, up from 47F and heading for 72F. We are still having winds blowing. Right now from the S @ 5 to 8mph. Later, they will be from the W @ 15 to 21mph.

Not too much happening around here, we didn't get any of the rain that went around us. There was snow up on Brian's Head Ski Resort. Which isn't that far from us.

Since our Air Force son will be landing in Las Vegas on Wednesday, we've been cleaning up the place. Tuesday, we'll go down and spend the night in a hotel, so on Wednesday we don't have to drive down and then back home. The temp on Wednesday in Vegas should be around 100F. And according to the weather guessers, the following Wednesday, it's supposed to be around 110F! :redface-2x:

Today, I'll be pulling parts to recondition a ST1300 Windshield mechanism that someone on the forum has asked me to do. So that will keep me busy.

Once Chris is up, we'll get some breakfast. Pepsi(s) will be on the menu for later.

Anyone :bk13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:

It sounds like this is routine for him. How does he continue to get away with that? Is there no management there monitoring what the employees under their supervision are doing? Some disciplinary action would seem to be in order for that fella, if not being told to find another job.

He's a supervisor, and mngmt is well aware. If he's not here no one really questions it or where he is. If I'm not here people wonder if I'm ok. It was the same at his previous employer, so this is a chronic pattern. Here, they seem content to turn a blind eye as long as outcomes are met.

It's definitely frustrating for me, but I can still look myself in the mirror every morning. I'd assume I could follow the same path if I was so inclined, but that's just not in my work ethic. Maybe my 10 extra trips around the Sun makes a difference too.

It's also nice to know other staff see it and know where to come when they need something.

So it is a matter of bad management.

It's definitely frustrating for me,
I have been in and seen similar situations myself and the result was usually the same- mgmnt not dealing with the slacker leads to a corrosive work environment. Everyone else sees this slacker getting away with this and getting the same, or better compensation, than they do. Resentment builds amongst the troops.

It's also nice to know other staff see it and know where to come when they need something.
Which is feather in your cap for certain but unfortunately validates my point above. The conscientious people like yourself who do a full days work actually have to do more than pull their weight to make up for what the slacker is not doing. The only time that I have seen this scenario result in a warm and fuzzy feeling in everyone else is when the slacker got the boot.

52 headed towards 70 here, and rain on the menu all day long. No riding, no flying, so while my velocity stacks print, I'm taking a deep dive on YouTube into riding gear testing and I gotta say... it's been a real eye opener so far.

Sounds like either a Gov't worker or someone on salary. Or just a POS that gets away with it. But I'm right there with ya on punctuality... ten minutes early is on time and being on time is late far as what I hold myself to.
