Motivation level somewhere between "I got this" and "I just wanna be left alone, sip on my cup and pretend"... :coffee:

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the coffee, Martin.

It's sunny and 53°F in Lackawanna State Park, outside Scranton PA. Later on it'll be close to 80 but by then I'll be headed back home.

I'm here with an old friend (college roommate) to go see Union Pacific No. 4014, the only operational Big Boy steam locotive. At a whopping 1.2 million pounds it's a massive chunk of iron.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Good morning and thanks for the coffee, Martin.

It 61 and cloudy this morning, rising to a sunny 80, later.

We'll bring Brenda's car to be examined by the repair place, and I've got an appointment with my urologist. As I type this , I'm reminded that I should have stopped by for a psa test last week..
Damn! I guess I'm going really early for that..

enjoy your day,
Steve

Thanks again, Martin.
2 more days of school here and after that a little more riding time.
What are you learning, Peter?
Cool 64° now, fortunately warming to a more seasonal 86. And rain is not being mentioned for a while.
While I sip my first cup, trying to comb through the cobwebs in my mind, for something to type about, I'm thinking of all the stories and interviews of the outlanders here in my country for FIFA.
It fills my heart to see the appreciation by our international visitors of the USA. At the same time, I'm saddened at our own citizens who not only take our blessings for granted, but want to destroy it and rebuild it in some God-forsaken, failed communist image.
(Yesterday's New York elections. 🤮)
Examples of our "modern marvels"... Walmart, Buccees, the size of our stores and the variety of stuff, the American fast food outlets, the different types of food (brisket!)... many are just gobsmacked.
We still live in the greatest country in the world 🌎.
So many people who want to live here, while no one wants to leave.
Even Ellen DeGeneres (sp?) and Rosie O'Donnell, who made such a grand, huge deal about leaving, have decided to come home. After about 2 years, if that.
What does that tell you?
OK, so Richard Gere may still be living in Spain, but no great loss.
Yes, we have our problems -- we always will, that's real life.
But I'm not seeing a mass exodus.
The US press is doing everything they can to paint a sad, repressive picture of life in the USA, but our guests don't see it that way.
Nor do I.
And I pray you don't.
That's enough from me this morning.
Life is good!
And it's always better with coffee.

In England, 1.2 million pounds for a steam engine is also a decent deal.

That's probably only a small fraction of the annual cost to maintain a steam loco in operating condition. I read a placard here that it took a crew of ten to service each engine, after just about every run. Yowza.

Morning all! Sunny here with a bit of cloud. 20C now, 26C later.

Working from home today. Spent the first half hour trying to get internet access in my office sorted out. Pulled out a bunch of plugs on various routers, mesh devices etc. Seems to have worked....so far.

Hope everyone has a great day!
