Turning water into hope... :coffee:

G'Day...

11°/24°C, 64% RH, haze (the type that hurts the unarmed eye), partially cloudy... 🌤️⛅🌥️⛅🌤️
still waiting for that promised global warning... mulling over putting the temp liner into the Gore jacket...

home, Nespresso to get the oil pressure up... ☕
got outta bed without any crackle and pops, but there is a tick below my left eye, my body must be downloading some software update... 🤔 ;)

commute on ST mostly uneventful...
except the occasional Talahon attempts to provoke a rear-end collisions... a new 'sports' of them, I encounter like 4~5 every day... :cautious:
they drive into a free intersection or roundabout, and slam on the brakes... (some even start to back up...)
they pull out an exit in front of you, and slam on the brakes...
they approach a green light, and slam on the brakes...
without any reason nor warning...
what the incidents do have in common: jumping out their car, starting guttural arguments... WUNNUFIGHT ?!!!...
pfffff... trust me, you are totally uninteresting, the only thing you are is getting in the way and on everyone's nerves... 😕

a remarkable peak event however at my sub-level garage entrance last night:
like to 'thank' me for opening the automatic roller gate for him with my fob while idling behind him, he drove down the ramp for like 9 feet and BAM!! slams on the brakes... 😣
thankfully the tarmac was dry, the ST stops on a dime, my legs long enough to secure it on that steep slope... (if he'd pulled that to ze GF she would have undoubtedly gone down...)
and again: jumping out to start japing... oooch... pleeeezeee...
I had enough clearance to simply swerve around him over the exit ramp and proceed to my slip...
so the evil follows you straight home now... great... :cautious:

office, dull, Nescafé... :coffee:

the new rotors for the '94 did not turn up yesterday...
maybe today...
hope dies last...

thank coffee its Friday!

Thx Martin, and coffee!

Yesterday was all about running the guesthouse.
In the evening there was at last a shrimp and crab happening with Mrs Stus’ siblings.
Well….the food was good.
I know I probably should have been happier for the company.

Today is not much.
Let’s see what happens when the youngsters wake up.

14˚c/57f, overcast, 20mph wind from Rays direction….

Have a good one!
Stu

Good morning all,

10°C and sunny this morning, with clouds moving in later and rain expected in the afternoon. Should not deter me from riding in to work. STil doesn't feel much like summer...

A touch of paranoia is a healthy outlook for a rider - evil is everywhere, and they are all out to get you! 😉 Glad you kept it STanding.

Have a safe and wonder filled day!

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Martin.

It's 51 and clear in MA this morning, rising to the low 80s, later.
Similar in Loudon, where we'll work today.

Yesterday, I made it to PT, and instead of the gym, we headed to the range for some pistol time. Since the PT person suggested more walking, I went out for a little over a mile, before settling in for the night.

Today, we'll work at the Penguin Roadrace school, and the weekend will include motorcycle road racing.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

Morning all, and thanks for the startup Martin.

10 and foggy for the ride in, headed to 29 and sunny later on.

Today will be a "fun" day, tracking down devices that have been causing a broadcast storm on the network. Luckily all the "heavy" work's been done at the switch level, and the offending ports deactivated, but the tracing of wires from the switch, to the patch panel, to somewhere in the building will take a lot of sneaker-net time. That's just to find the 6 offending devices, which will need investigation and or remediation. Oh, did I mention there's 2 network closets (one for the original half of the building and one for the addition) and someone decided to use the default patch bay nomenclature for the 2nd room? This means we have hundreds of duplicate numbered wall plates, so we'll need to check every network jack in the building..... I can't truly explain how much fun this will be.

Enjoy your day.

Obo.

Happy Wreck Avoidance Day, Martin.
Are tazers legal in Austria? Sounds like there is much pent-up anger that needs to be resolved over there.
Some of it could be fixed by a good old-fashioned butt-whooping, which seems long overdue. With an electronic stun device, you might not even have to get off the bike.
Here in my town, my commute is over a more scenic road, mostly through quiet suburbs. It only takes me 2 - 3 more minutes than riding the interstate, with far fewer delays.
The only problem is, it's all double-yellow no passing, but as the bike is so quick, I can usually get around those who insist on driving 10mph below the speed limit.
Meaning, some drive at 30mph, and that is very hard for me to do, for 10 miles.
Only one ticket in 7 or 8 years. 😃
Well, that's not what I came here to say tbis morning.
@Obo what do you use for a toner / sniffer to trace Cat5 / Cat6 cables? I have 3 different brands, but I find none deliver the results promised.
I truly hate finding a particular cable in network closets.
We just updated our aging switches at our office yesterday, but it's not like an enterprise-sized operation, just a small office.
70-80% chance of rain. I dodged it coming home yesterday, may not be so lucky today.
Weekend imminent!

@Sadlsor I have an old POTS toner at home, but nothing at work. When we need new cabling run / terminated we outsource it to a dedicated vendor and ask for verified throughput data rates etc. The tools to check throughput are pricey, and we'd use them rarely. A basic handheld Fluke runs $5G. The only tracing tools we have are for electrical circuit breakers.

I'm all on your side there...
But in the current "climate" over here any form of vigilantism is frowned upon and immediately punished as "hate crime"... if you catch my drift... 🤨
(yeah, we lost sovereignty on our streets progressively after 2015... )

On a different note:
later this morning GLS delivered those new 316mm rotors from eBay...
They're made by the WUXI THAI RACING TRADE CO LTD... ;)
Seller claims 420 (2Cr13) stainless, and visually they look rigid and true...
I'll slap them on tomorrow and see how they gonna look on the motorcycle...

they drive into a free intersection or roundabout, and slam on the brakes...
I saw two accidents waiting to happen this week as a result of similar stupidity.

The first was on the one of the entrance ramps to one of the bridges that crosses the St. Lawrence river. It goes up hill over a rise and then descends down to the bridge, which is a provincial highway. It also has a fairly short entrance ramp. A small SUV came over and down the hill and went down to the end of the acceleration ramp where he promptly came to a complete stop and put his flasher on and waited to enter the traffic. Of course he had no chance of merging now because he was completely stopped so he just sat there with his flasher on. People coming over that rise are usually on the gas because that is what you are supposed to do- get up to the same speed as the highway traffic so that you can efficiently merge. That is why they are called acceleration ramps. I was just waiting for another vehicle to come over the hill and plow right in to him.

In another I was in Ontario where highway eastern end of highway 17 merges on to highway 417. Highway 417 has a 110 Km/h speed limit so everyone is doing 130. Coming down off of the highway 17 ramp that leads to the 417 we were going very slowly because the lead vehicle is holding everyone up. Once he gets around the curve and starts heading down on to the 417 he speeds up. As he merges on to the the 417 he slows way down again right when he should be accelerating up to the speed of the traffic on the highway. He slowed down because he pulled up beside his fiends who were in another vehicle stopped on the shoulder. So here we are sitting on a limited access highway where the traffic is coming at 130 Km/h and this guy stops in the right-hand traffic lane to chat with his buddy sitting on the shoulder. I had visions of becoming a hood ornament for of one of the 18 wheelers that I could see coming in my mirror. Thankfully the ST1300 has a lot of get up and go. I cranked the throttle as hard as I could and swung all the way out to the left-hand lane and was up way over 100 Km/h and got out of there before any approaching traffic could run me over. For all I know there might have been a horrendous crash there.

Good Morning, best part of being retired, no rut hour traffic. 61 F with a high of 76 And Sunny. Today's agenda take Star(cat) to the Vet for a checkup and more importantly get her nails trimmed, some have over grown. Thought for Martin, first thanks for Coffee, second if tasers aren't allowed, the evil part of my brain came up with the idea of Spraying Brake cleaner (or bear spray)in their eyes. Okay ride Smart, G

Morning all! Sunny, mostly blue sky with some high cloud. 14C right now, 23C later.

We have a triple roundabout getting off the highway on the way home that is truly asphalt spaghetti. People are constantly confused and stopping in the middle of them as they try to puzzle out which way to go. Also, most drivers don't seem to understand that upon approaching a roundabout, you are supposed to yield before entering. I expect to be hit any day. They're fun to crank a motorcycle around however :).

It's completely dead in the office today, I have only seen one other person. I think the smart folk all decided to "work from home" today.

Hope everyone has a great day!

G'dafternoon y'all from the office! Actually almost done with my day here. It's been thankfully slow today, a benefit when govt employees flex time to take Friday's off. Peace and quiet.

It was a surprising 59F/15C when I ambled downstairs to feed the herd, jumping to 67F by time I pushed off. Ride in was much less eventful than Martin's. Pulled in early so decided to do some trash pickup on my walk in from the lot to the office. I think I've picked up 39 (grocery-size) bags worth so far. Angers me that ppl think so little of throwing their trash out their windows instead of putting it in a can.

And got to stink up the volleyball court during lunch, the gods were definitely not on our side today. Good workout I guess but not very satisfying.

Date night tonight w the missus, headed to a Japanese place we haven't been to in a while.

@Andrew Shadow it's amazing how many folks don't understand merge vs yield.
Only time I stop (if I must) is at the START of the merge lane, so I have the whole length to accelerate. No one else gets it.

Take care y'all!
