Headlight Bulb Replacement ST1300

If you want light, LEDs really are the ticket.

I've had both the h4 upgrade you jut did, and the LED upgrade. LEDs are hands down massively superior. That being said, it's important to get the proper LED bulb so it positions the light at the right spots in the OEM reflector. You want an LED that mimics the incandescent bulb.

As for installation, size, boot issues with LEDs - not really a problem.

As for cutting off the wings on the bulb, you're only supposed to cut the two lower ones. The top on stays and prevents any rotation with the retainer holding it in place.

The boot on mine seems to fit well in both places on the replacement bulb
(not bad for 18 years old or so)
some of the LEDs Ive seen have large (ceramic?) ends that I don't know will work

Do you remember the exact LED part no?

Also wondering anyone concerned about flicker or any kind of upsets back into the circuit

I only cut the two side tabs it locates into the recess correctly but can be moved around center a few degrees compared to OEM that remains fixed

On most LED (I can't state all with certainty) they separate in to two parts. The base with the bulb gets installed in to the headlight first. Then the boot is installed over the end of the bulb base. Then the second half of the assembly is reconnected to the bulb base through the boot.

It was the below LED bulbs that OBO recommended to me. I installed them in 2023 and they are still working well.

H4 LED Bulb, OUSHI 70W 14000 Lumen Per Pair Bulbs

None whatsoever with any of the LED bulbs that I have used.

The above LED bulbs, and I believe most of them but I don't know for sure, are made so that the bulb can be rotated in its base so that the alignment can be fine tuned after installation.
