G'Day...

1°/14°C @85% RH zis mornin', surfaces in the shade show traces of frost... 🥶
at least sunny with clear skies... ☀️
ze GF is weathering it off on her NT700, but announced having used her grip-heaters...

so I'm slurping my mugs in solitude... ☕

Had a little two-up ride with the ST last evening, hauling her to our mech friend to pick up her Skoda fastback sedan...
All fixed, a corrugated pipe of the dreaded exhaust gas recirculation cracked (thus seeped) and needed replacement,
a repair panel welded into RHS front fender, primed and painted, winter tires on, MOT passed...

Back at her place we unloaded the summer wheels (astonishing that supposedly "light weight" aluminum alloy wheels,
weight at least about 5 times as much as (cheap) standard steel wheels like I have on my trusty Toyota...)
Once the sun is up I'll break out hose and Kaercher to give them a good cleansing before storage...
Also gonna (over)inflate them to 2.9Bar/42psi to avoid storage deformation...

Not much new on the job front...
The unemployment office has acknowledged my claim/status for monetary benefits... so at least some cash will come in...
Weird times though...
On one side the ideas expecting people to work till the age of 70 to lessen the strain on the state pension system...
On the other hand voices that claim that all those 'old ones' should be gone by the age of 45, as they're only blocking
housing and work places for the younger generations...
And no one is looking out the window to reckon the civilization, infrastructure, comfort and wealth we 'old ones' have build for them...
Its all taken for granted... damaged, vandalized, disfigured with graffiti... pfffff...

But: daylight saving time is ending this weekend... 😎

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the start there, from old fella to another ... :)

It's 46°F and clear in Rockville, with almost three hours yet to go before sunrise. Once that happens we'll warm to 63 or so under clear skies.

The business part of yesterday's uke club meeting went very well. We made some decisions, and agreed to make the rest by next week. Until it was all over I didn't realize how much I had been stressed by the whole thing, but everyone in the meeting thanked me for my work, which was nice to hear.

Goof is on the agenda for today, with one of the neighbors. He's not been free much to play recently, as he and his wife have been caring for a very sick pet since last spring. On Sunday they made the hard choice and let their beloved family member cross the rainbow bridge the following day.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones (including the furry, four-legged varieties) you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Good morning, all. Thanks, Martin.

@ibike2havefun Are these “old fellas” in the room with us now? Sheesh…talk about stolen valor.

Anyway, it’s 45, going toward 75 and sunny. The forecast says it may be December before any rain or our first freeze. Only one rain (hurricane) since flipping August! I really can’t complain about the weather being stuck in a loop of sun, mid 40’s to mid 70’s. It’s been nice out.

I’m headed out early for my first radiation treatment at 7:15. This getting up early for the next 7 weeks is gonna feel like getting up for work.

John

Morning all, and thanks for the startup, Martin.

Are you storing your tires stacked or upright?

The ride into work here was cool too, at 3C but no frost. Once the sun rises it should be mostly sunny and reach 8.

Speaking of tires, it was decided last night that we're going to travel down to see Thing2 and swap her winter tires this weekend. The weekend is now kaput with 10 hours of travel for 20 minutes of work. The things you do for kids right? At least it's supposed to be sunny and 13C while I'm changing tires & rims in her parking lot.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Obo.

@Mellow I made a promise to myself yesterday not to say anything that you'd be afraid to look up. :)
Whatever his mugs hold, it certainly looks like someone had already eaten it...

Are you storing your tires stacked or upright?
Always stacked...
(also any new/spare MC tires get stored horizontally...)

Would take too much space under the basement stairs ;)
Flat, on top of each other, individually wrapped in nice, dedicated bags with handles...

Good morning and thanks for the coffee start, Martin.

It's clear and 32f/0c in MA this morning. The temperature will rise to 56f/13c and remain sunny.

I got to the gym, yesterday and came home for a "quick" nap.
Our neighbor texted me from work, asking me to open her back door so the dog could go out in their back yard.
When I went over, the door was already open, but I got mugged by her Golden Retriever, who thought I was over to take her out for a walk.
Okay... I went back home for my knee braces, and we toured the outback for a little over 3 miles. She also got to take 2 short swims in the French River.

Brenda said we were dining on leftovers. What did she do with my wife??!!

Today looks like another gym day, and I'll try to get out for a bit on the Wing. Just like yesterday...

Enjoy the day,
Steve

Thx Martin!

12˚c/54f, little wind, some clouds, it’s nice.

Been all week with Peter.
When he comes home from school today, me and me missus are driving to another island, to visit some friends ( of Mrs Stu…) for the weekend.
It takes three bridges, three tunnels, two of them under sea, and one ferry to get there.
Will there be wine???

@Nashcat Good luck with your treatment John!
@Obo Safe travels Obo! I did the same a month ago for my son, icy roads appeared two weeks later.

Have a very fine day!
Stu

Not too keen about those tunnels underneath the Fjords...
The knowledge about a few gazillion tons of rock and seawater above my head are a tad haunting...
(besides that the air down there is seriously polluted... got nauseated and dizzy on the ST... 🤢)

Tunnels aside,

That old 50ies F-Series would be worth a fortune...
And I'm sure a few Norwegian and Swedish enthusiast drive some...

A client's restomod (installed a split A/C in that garage...)

I OTOH think a 50ies flat-fender Power Wagon would suit me... lumberjack shirt, lace-up boots... no fishnet stockings though... ;)

Well, I’m back for another cup. The total time from here, to back again, was only 90 minutes including 2, 30 minute drives. Walk in the clinic, scan a badge, get treated, and gone in less than 30 minutes.

I’m glad it’s quick, as my schedule is M-F, from now til 12/31. Off 2 days for T’giving and 2 for Christmas.

Thanks, Martin, and thanks for reminding me why I don't live in snow country.
Buy extra tires.
Store extra tires.
Change extra tires twice a year.
No thanks!
Thanks, John, for reminding me why I chose not to go the 4 or 6 weeks of early morning chemo sessions for my prostate cancer.
Thanks, Mellow, for encouraging me to continue drinking my coffee BLACK. And for reminding me I made the right decision.
This morning was a real disappointment.
Woke up confused at 0330, having gone to bed early last night.
At that crazy hour, I opened my eyes thinking it was Saturday. While trying to remember what I did on Friday, it dawned on me (dawned,... get it?) that there was no Friday yet.
Darn.
Was really looking forward to Saturday.
I got up intending to "do some things", as I have a lot of pre-course work before next week's RiderCoach prep class.
But I decided to spend the next 2 hours sleeping, instead.
At least that was successful.
While my daily confusion has subsided, my disappointment has not.
The good news is, at least it's not Thursday again, or Wednesday. That would be worse.
The more good news?
I'm pretty sure tomorrow IS Saturday.
Or, it will be.
