Good morning everyone

There's freshly-brewed Cubano roast by Mayorga Coffee Roasters in the pot for you this fine morning. Pour, sit, slurp, savor, and enjoy!

It's 40°F and clear in Rockville, and very quiet too as it should be considering the ridiculous time of day. Why I'm awake I don't know, but there it is. We'll have sunshine aplenty again today and brilliant blue skies overhead. Mrs. Sun will eventually bestir hisself and warm us into the mid-60s.

My laundry's all done, so I have the entire day today to do whatever. I think uking may happen, as it did yesterday when I sat out on the front porch for a couple hours and tortured several poor, unoffending tunes. One of my group, a very new member who lives nearby, reached out yesterday to ask if we could get together for a one-on-one practice session to help her get back into playing. She'd come just once to our regular group sessions before disappearing due to what she explained as a "family emergency". Apparently whatever that was has now passed, so we'll meet up for a practice session on Wednesday at the local library. That means I need to put in some time myself, something I've neglected of late.

Other than that, and chipping in when Mrs. Fun asks for input and feedback on the plans for the Japan trip (her departure date is less than two weeks away, now), I've got ECS once again. I don't mind that one bit.

The neighbors shared a bunch of photos of their younger daughter all dolled up and out on a date to her first Homecoming dance. Oh to be 50 years younger... well, actually I'm really glad to have moved past that stage in life.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

coffee, brew-tally strong, it almost growled at me... :coffee:

G'Day...

4°/12°C @ 68% RH, overcast, rain predicted for the afternoon... 🌧️

barely dawn when hysterical, high pitch yapping by the Pinchers 3 properties over ripped me out of deep slumber... 😴

so I got up at 0830hrs... well, actually it still was 0730hrs... its complicated... :cautious:

after a couple of "Nespresso shots" the world looked clearer... :coffee:

ze GF rummaged around the house, trying to update various time-keeping items...
interestingly her high-tech WiFi/internet/DAB+/RDS stereo seems incapable of receiving the actual time...
it requires either having broken fingers simultaneously pushing multiple buttons to navigate its weird menu structure,
or having a phone app connected to simply un-check [summertime] in a (not so simple) hidden tab... pfffff...

Owners of pets and life-stock are not to be envied...
Their stomachs simply don't care that a government had decided to change the time...

Well, enjoy your Sunday 😎

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Keith.

It's clear and 26f/-3c this morning, rising to 66f/19c and remaining clear and sunny.

I made it to the gym, yesterday, for an abbreviated core/leg workout, since it was packed when I arrived. I also do my Achilles PT exercises while I'm there.
Afterward, I rolled out the garden tractor and push mower, and did the mowing that I'd planned.
I've got a new pile of clippings in the mulch pile, so a few trips to the town's mulch pit are probably going to happen this coming week.
Brenda and I dined at a local pub, where their fall menu advertised a "Tour of Italy" meal, which included chicken parm, sausage and a meatball on top of pasta. There was too much food for each of us, so we shared the plate, and there was enough pasta left for another lunch.

I mentioned us maybe taking a ride, today, so we'll see if that happens. She definitely won't be riding at a temp of 26, but maybe as it warms up she'll become interested. I mentioned heading to Mystic, CT now that tourist season is over, but the seafood restaurant that she and I like is closed as of last week. There are others, though, including the Mystic Pizza of movie fame.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

Good morning everyone. I got up and went outside before coffee and sat in the dark while moon set waiting to see the corn stealing beaver and he didn’t disappoint. When he came up on the lawn from the lake I stood up and shot a video. Startled he turned around and ran back to the lake pretty fast with that big tail slapping the ground. That didn’t discourage him. He came back after I was in the house so I went back out to see him coming back with the corn stalk. He seemed to be struggling with a single corn stalk on land. I’m sure he prefers to float his food.

Mornin’ all. Thanks for the Cubano, Keith.

Weather? Let’s see. Oh, yeah, 45/75 and sunny. I swear it’s stuck. I mean, it’s perfect, but I wouldn’t mind maybe a cloud, or even a shower.

I’m headed out shortly, to fly some radio control in a local park. Plus, Teddy can have free run (walk) over 40 acres. He loves it there, since he thinks he’s guarding a much larger domain.

Morning all, and thanks Keith.
Yesterday I finally got rid of the Toro push mower, about 15-20 years old, taken apart and not running for the last year.
Set it at the curb, with the bagger, two new cables, and all the pieces.
Took 3 pictures, listed it for free on Farcebook Marketplace and Nextdoor as a "project" at noon, and it was picked up by 4pm.
Roz is so funny. She was upset at me for not putting a sign on it. I was inside on the couch watching football, and she came back from her lunch with friends, exclaiming "You need to put a sign on it! How will people know it's free?"
I told her if you think it needs a sign, then go make one. I've listed it online, so people will know.
To which she tells me, "Not everyone who drives by will see those ads!"
I said, not everyone who sees the ads will drive by, either.
A couple hours and 6 fb messages later, I hear a knock at the front door.
"Can you help me put the mower in my truck?"
Sure can!
Turns out, this is an 82yo neighbor who lives a couple streets over, and he said "I know you. You taught me how to ride motorcycles in 2002."
Bill eventually bought a HD RoadGlide, StreetGlide, whatever (how do you even tell them apart? I never cared to learn.) Four years later, he crashed it and nearly died.
Long time in the hospital, he told me, but he was wearing all the gear at the time of the crash. He didn't share any further details.
The mower is gone.
Bill is still here.
Good for him.
I didn't make a sign.
And Alabama won their game.

Getting ready for winter, I guess.

Well, Brenda and I negotiated, and we will be going for a ride... In Her Car...

Still... We'll get out of the house for a bit and see some scenery, although most of MA is past peak foliage viewing.
I mentioned going out to Western MA via the Mohawk trail, but Southeastern CT would be good, as well.
She's driving!

Good morning all!
Thanks for the caffeinated start, Keith!
Belated Happy Birthday, Sir!
I’m a bit lax in my posting, of late!
I’m trying to get things done. (at the new place) I’ve cut two huge cedars from beside the house & chipped the branches from same. Our local chainsaw carver will come shortly, to see what bits she would like.
I took delivery of 2 - 20’ sea cans, the plan is to place them at the end of the road that I’ve cut through my bush, in a small clearing, where they will be used to house some of our many items. . . .
I’m planning on heading south later in November.
Play safe!

Afternoon Keith & All from mostly sunny, Southern Utah!

Currently it is 57F (which is also the high of the day), up from 39F. Some clouds out there, but I doubt if we'll see anything from them. We did get drizzled on yesterday, just as I decided to go get some dinner. And of course, I had just washed the Tacoma, the day before. Oh well, I have to get out tomorrow and I'll stop by the carwash again, since I can get as many as I want to.

Chris is still doing fine at her Quilt Retreat. I know that for a fact, because she doesn't have time to call. LOL

We had a "Stake Conference", for church today. It started @ 10AM, so that's why I'm late. I rode the :dr13: there, because I knew parking would be a pain since we would have so many folks there.

Breakfast was boiled eggs, bacon, toast , OJ & Lemon Tea. I'll be having a Pepsi, shortly.

Anyone :bk13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:
