Pan Gathering Scotland 2027

Interesting approach (after reading their website).
There is a written contract for the purchase and buy-back price so that should not be an issue assuming that this is a legit business. According to their website non-residents owning a vehicle registered in the UK is not an issue and again, according to their website, insurance can be had easily enough for a fair price and they will assist with that. That works out to about $150.00 USD per day plus whatever the insurance cost is. Seems cheaper than a lot of traditional rental places that I have looked at as renting motorcycles doesn't come cheap from what I have seen.

So Phil, after you have tested it out report back and let us know how it all worked out.

It sounds interesting enough - but I would like to hear of some customer 'testimonials' if there are any (prefer not to be customer #1 ;))
I don't understand from a business perspective the advantage of 'selling/buying' vs rental unless it is primarily about taxes.
I would not think they are making any money on the 'float' of the cash from the sale.
Requests with questions have been sent to them and another rental outfit.
We'll see what I get back.

Here's a moto rental place in Inverness:

https://www.nc500motoexperience.co.uk/

Has Honda NC750 and some BMW's including GS1200/1250. I did look at the Honda Pan European buy/sell back site which is a rental place that dances around the definition of 'rental'. You pay a daily admin fee of 90 pounds with a limit of 200 miles per day. Daily fee goes down if more than a week. Not saying it's not a fair deal - it may be. But it's farther away and back from the Pan Gathering in Scotland than the NC500 ride I want to do.

I’m not a fan of riding big groups - but if anyone from this forum is in the Uk, I’d love to know where and when. I may be able to get up, across, down to say hello.
It’ll make up for UP riding past my road end a few years back and I didn’t find out til it was too late !

I will definitely be there. I attended in Spain in 2025 and I expect this Scotland rally to be a great event. No offense but these UK guys know how to party. For the record, to Phil, they are expecting you to return! Registration is not yet open but when it does go for it.

FWIW - The buy/sell option (with insurance) of a ST1300 vs the straight rental of the NC750 appears to be pretty close.
The ST1300s are north of London which would require extra airfare, but the NC750 would require a day of travel and fuel is expensive.
Still cogitating over the differences.
I do like renting a ST1300 because I am very familiar with the bike but the logistics to get it are bit more complex. ;)

@Uncle Phil

ST1300s are Worcester, that's north west of London and just below Birmingham! If you are contemplating using them and require an 'in person' visit to them, I am about 25-30 miles south of Worcester (I live between Gloucester and Cheltenham) and would quite happily take a chug up there to check out the lay of the land!

I really appreciate it that and I may take you up on it.
It just seems a little much to go through the 'buy/sell' though I understand now why they do it.
There's a place in London that rents Honda NC750s that I am looking at also (waiting for confirmation about miles cost and insurance coverage).
The logistics to get to it are lot simpler - trains from Heathrow to Surrey Quays and they are maybe a 1/2 mile from the rail station.
And I still have my good old Oyster Card! ;)
I've made the run from London to Scotland on an ST1300 before and it looks to be about 474 miles - not a lot on the motorways once you get out of London.
Getting to Birmingham then to Worchester involves more flying and/or rail rides plus taxi and is a bit more complicated.
At the end of the day when you add all the costs for both options (bike fees + transportation), they turn out to be pretty close.
I have reserved my room at the Atholl Palace (fully cancellable) since I figured when the Pan Clan site gets up, rooms will go very fast!

If I understand their website, they are almost twice as expensive as the London hire for the same NC750.
So I am still 'fishing' around a bit,.
What I'd really like to rent is a new NT1100 just to experience the bike.
But it seems no one in the UK are renting those bikes.

I would not be completely surprised if someone in the UK would lend you one of his extra motorcycles to ride. A lot of those guys are now riding BMWs and other that STs and like us have extra motorcycles. The Pan Clan operates on Facebook and I do not have a Facebook account. You have not been forgotten for showing up one year. I already have an ST1300 now parked in Italy, in May to be parked in Southern France which is never coming back to the USA, so cannot offer you mine for this rally. But I thank you for alerting me to reserving a room now. Leonard

If this rally runs anything like Spain in 2025, they had 3 basic rides and you elected which ride to take each of the 3 days of the rally. You could ride a different ride each day or whatever combination you wanted. Lunch out on the road was optional and was not really a financial determination as breakfast and communal dinner were part of the rally fee. Frankly, in Spain I ate too much, but breakfast was a buffet and I lack buffet control and dinner was large and very good. Lunches were always at restaurants that I never would have found without the group. There was always a group of people who elected to not eat lunch and sometimes I think they were the smart ones. These people live well and have a very good time.
