(had a hard time falling asleep last night... darn hamsters...)

the weather guessers announce possible frost for mid of the week... ❄️
guess I'll brake out the compressor and blow the irrigation system clear...

Thx Martin, I think I need a new phone as well…
Mine is from 2020 too, and it struggles with the storage capasity, hard drive is 94% full, and I delete stuff all the time.
Max is 32gb…
Maybe Christmas comes yearly this year?

It’s a beautiful day, and I’m off for a nice ride.
Have to wait an hour or so to be shure the frost has gone.
It’s 8˚c/46f now, little wind from north over land, but there’s a lot of wind out at sea, half a mile out, very strange.
And it’s sunny.

Have a blessed day!
Stu

Coming in from my latest fishing trip……

Good morning, all. Thanks, Martin.

I love the time change. With yesterdays dark clouds and the clocks turned back, I was thinking bedtime around 5:30, but I managed to tough it out til 7:00, due to a good football game on TV.

55/75 and will become sunny around 7:00, after the last remaining rain clouds move out. Yesterday’s 1.6” of rain may help, but I think my lawn has thrown in the towel and accepted defeat.

Gotta get a shower and head into town for my date with 2 lovely ladies. It’s nice, with both of them helping me undress and then making me comfortable on the bed. But it does kind of spoil the mood when the radiation creature starts spinning around, firing its blasters.

John

Morning all, and thanks for the git-up-n-go, Martin.

John, it could be worse. Many alien movies involve an internal probing vs firing blasters.

3C here for the ride to work. It wasn't pitch black, due to the time change, which was nice. It wasn't full bright either, but like @Sadlsor, I'm not complaining. 15 and partly sunny for the ride home, if the guessers are spot on.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Obo.

Ah! Memory or performance were never a problem with my trusty CAT S61 (64GB internal, 128GB microSD...),
totally reliable and rugged little bugger... served me absolutely well... battery still lasted two days, and I really regret having to retire it for no apparent reason...
The issue is that its stuck on Android 9, thus the "lobbyist group*" of various app providers, above all Gmail, my house-bank and then booking.com started pointing fingers... 🤨
(* right... they all only want out best... our money... so according to them you ought to buy a new phone every 3 months...)

However offers my GSM provider a NEXT program where you accumulate points over the usage/duration of contract...
Due this I was able to obtain that € 250,- Galaxy XCover7 EE (for riding and workshop purposes another rugged phone)
for € 67,- plus extending the contractual commitment for another 24 months... (I'm with them for 28 years now...)
No one really needs Octa-Core-Processors, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage and 1TB microSD support... its just a phone! 🙄
(they landed on the moon with a lot less...)

However, after 2 days I finally have it set up to my liking and usage again... (drives me Monk when everything is different... 😉)
Also the access to my private email account is up and running again (the transfer app did import the Gmail settings though...)

My music collection doesn't work though (the S61 was synced with iTunes on my main laptop), Samsung seems to use a proprietary audio file format... 🙄
A problem for another day though...

Well, meanwhile the garden waterlines and sprinklers are cleared, filters removed and cleaned, the pump and switch/flow monitor emptied... 💦
Winter can come... 🌨️⛄

Thanks for the updates, guys, and for holding the universe together, Martin.
Yesterday was the Skills Test for our Class BRC, and I aced it, unlike the dismal 76 I scored on the Day 1 written test. Yes, it seems that despite my efforts to avoid it, I WAS effectively a tad overconfident with my previous RiderCoach experience.
And it seems 5 years have passed since I was last certified... where did that time go? There are new wrinkles and some changes since I coached my last, because the MSF is always tweaking, always refining, always striving to improve delivery.
8 in the class including me, and today begins peer teaching, where we are all partnered with one other, to demonstrate we know the classroom and the range well enough to coach a group of new riders, all using the MSF standards.
Sounds easier than it is, because of all the things that must be done and known and demonstrated, all according to the standard.
Our facility uses smaller bikes than before, like the Honda Grom, and a little Kawasaki Z- something 125 which i can't even turn, because the handlebar hits my knees when I turn, and I'm only 6 feet tall.
So I loosened the bar mounts and rotated them forward, which helped me get to turn the bars full lock both directions.
And then found that while turning, the handgrip and my hand were so close to the top of my knee, that I could not raise my leg enough to get my foot off the footpeg, and I fell over.
But they're so damn tiny, I feel like I only fell 12 inches before I hit the ground. Looks like a fun little bike, but we'll have to raise the bars or lower the footpeg for full- sized people to ride it.
Great for short inseams though.
Gotta scram, to prep the range for our first teaching assignment.
It's a lot of work to get certified again, but a lot of fun at the same time.
The weekend's gloom and doom rain forecast never materialized, but tomorrow it's forecast to rain all day.
But the class will go on.
I'll bring dry socks and extra gloves.

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Martin.

It's 32f/0c in MA this morning, rising to 68f/20c later.
It's starting off sunny, and it looks like it'll remain so all day.

Yesterdays track day went off well. They canceled our lunch, but we got out earlier because of that. Much nicer not to be on track in the dark.
They did have some to-go boxes that we could take home, if we were so inclined.
One funny part, is that I was calling blend line violations at the pit-out point. One RX-7 was over the line, so I called it. It turned out to be the Corner Marshal boss, out in his own car!
We had a chuckle about that, when the day was over.

Today, I'll go back and do it again. I don't have any idea of what the turn out will be for back-to-back Club days, but I guess I'll find out.
I just saw a series of messages between us and our son, Joe. He'll be by today to drop off some things that will be needed while we're taking care of our grandson while they're off to their Iceland trip.
They should still be here when I get back from the track.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the cuppa, Martin.

It's 42°F and partly cloudy in Rockville; partly sunny with a high around 68 is on tap for later in the day. The high will be a couple degrees lower in Poolesville, a8 miles to the west. That's only important because that's where I'll be playing goof from 1030 to about 1500 hours.

(had a hard time falling asleep last night... darn hamsters...)

Sorry about that. I had a hard time staying awake past 1800 hours.

I love the time change. With yesterdays dark clouds and the clocks turned back, I was thinking bedtime around 5:30, but I managed to tough it out til 7:00, due to a good football game on TV.

I fall into the @Nashcat category: I climbed into bed around 1800 (or was it 1700?) and watched the MotoGP Malaysia sprint and part of the Grand Prix before succumbing to the sandman at maybe 1945. I awoke again around 2200 hours and a couple times more in the wee hours. Ah the life of an old guy.

Anyone else been following the Martin v. Marquez scrap for the MotoGP World Championship? I told a friend of mine several weeks ago that it looked like it would come down to being decided by whichever rider managed to complete races and stay off the floor. Not long after, Martin crashed in the Australia sprint and missed both races in Malaysia, so Marquez is now well ahead in the points. All he has to do is finish in the points in the final races of the year and he'll be crowned king for another season.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.
