Boots Oxtar TCS boots

Just bought these boots, seem really nice for pretty cheap! Maybe a little flashy for some tastes riding a ST. I had been looking for a new pair of boots with more protection than my current boots. I have a pair of Bates Fastlane boots, must have worn them for 20 years or so. They are simple black leather boots. Very comfortable, but little in the way of protection. I decided I wanted something with a bunch more protection.

Not sure how comfortable these new boots will be, but they certainly fill the bill for more protection.

Yeah I got a pair of them myself a a little while ago. They are more a racing boot than a walking boot, leaning more heavily towards extra protection over walking comfort. However, as with the touring Oxtars they feel a lot better after some walking around the house in them before taking them out for their maiden ride. They won't be good for hiking, but mine work fine for some walking around, and I like the extra protective features of them.

Also they've no rain proof goretex lining, so I'll be using them for my local runs where I'm likely to know the weather, saving the Oxtar waterproof boots for trips. Good buy though and the black look much better in person than the photos.

I have had my first ride in the Oxtar's, and I would agree completely. These are not walking around/hiking boots. They are comfortable enough for riding, and some walking/standing around. Riding with these boots will take a bit of adjustment, they are much stiffer than my old riding boots, so the shifter and brake pedal have a different feel. Not bad, just different. I missed a few shifts until I adapted. Overall I am happy with the boots. Comparing these boots to my old Bates boots, I feel they are kind of like comparing a plain old leather jacket, to a jacket with armor: stiffer and more restrictive, but much more protection. Exactly what I was looking for in a new boot.

I'm looking at getting a pair of those, and have a question regarding the shin armor. What size do you wear, and how close does the shin armor come to the fairing? I ask becuase I'd gotten a pair of top line Alpinestar race boots and the combination of my small feet and the shin armor that might have been swiped off an M-1 Abrams resulted in the physical impossibility of my boot attempting to share the same space as the fairing. grrr..... made shifting problematic.

I wear a size 10 boot. The shin armor is pretty thick on these boots, and they are fairly tall, about 2 inches taller than my old boots. I have not had any problem with them contacting fairing yet.

Went for a ride yesterday with them, and like them riding just fine, no problem with average walking around at all for me either. I think they will break in to add aditional comfort over some time as my Oxtar Matrix boots really needed a break in period, after which they were awesome in the comfort dept.

I could shift with the TCS boots right off as per normal, BUT that is only because I tour with Oxtar Matrix boots. It took me a couple of rides to get used to the shifting with those. These boots feel about the same shifting. Once you get the "deal" with finding the shifter it is real simple from that point on and never a problem again.

I don't have the ST around anymore, but I had the Oxtar Matrix when I had it. I never had a problem with them and the fairing, nor did any of my friends who used them. The shin protection is identical in size EXCEPT for the TCS being 1/2" taller at the front.
