On my 1100, I used vp accessories rain guards to keep the wind off my feet. They made a huge difference.

You don't need to get the heated pants liners to run the Gerbing heated socks. They come with a power cable that will run down the inside of your regular riding pants and connect to the controler. When I'm out in the really cold the only heated gear I run are heated G3 gloves and the heated socks. I do run non-heated liners in the pants and jacket.

I use heated hunting socks with a d cell battery, they work fine. Here is a google link for heated socks many to pick from.
