I've been looking at the Tourmaster Transition 2 jacket as a replacement to a aging Joe Rocket mesh jacket. I tried one on at the Chicago Motorcycle show this weekend and liked the fit.
My only concern is warm weather riding. I found some previous posts but didn't see anyone mention temps above about 80F. How bad is it in warmer temperatures. Living in Indiana, the summers can get toasty. For local commutes, I can always go back to my Joe Rocket jacket but I'm also planning a trip to Las Vegas this May/June and could hit warm temperatures along the way (as well as cooler temps) and that's a one jacket trip.
Any comments would be appreciate. Are there any other alternatives that I should be looking at for a 3 season jacket in a similar price range.
Thanks in advance.
Mike

I just picked up a trans two last weekend, and all I can tell you is at 72 deg. the vent system works great. hotter than that I just don't know. I can tell you this, I also have
a T.M. intake 2 mesh jacket and venture air pants. Each with the two stage liner system.
With them I have riden at temps from 19 deg. to 90 deg with no problems. That is until I got into town traffic or had to stop. Lets face it, when the air is'nt moving over you 90 is hot.:03biker:

I really really really wanted that jacket to be the one touring jacket for me.... but it just did not fit right..... I tried it at the Chicago show also.... Unfortunately the one that I liked the best was the most expensive,,,, the First Gear Torrent.... real substansial liner for rain and wind... and I can wear my electric liner for cold... we'll see......

Hello Mike and All,

I wore a first generation Transition jacket in temperatures ranging from upper 20s (layered) to the 100s in rain and shine here in south Alabama/northwest Florida. One night, I hit a truck while wearing it and the armor worked as advertised. One slight scratch on my elbow, serious scuffing on the right arm, small tear in the back right side.

The Transition II was the replacement that I chose because I was so satisfied with the first one, and the price is great for the quality and product. I wear the Venture pants that zip up to the jacket. The venting system works fine in hot weather. Velcro holds the shoulder vents in the open position, the front unzips and velcros open, and the sleeve vents allow a good air flow through the jacket and out the back. The collar has a snap that allows you to open the front zipper and attach the collar strap so that it doesn't slap you around.

It's my all-year, all-weather jacket. I have a couple of leather jackets and a mesh jacket but I grab the Transition when I ride.

How is the T2 in the rain?

I read a review that said there are too many zippers for it to really keep the rain out.

We've got a tour coming up and it would be ideal if we had one jacket and didn't need rain gear. There is possibility of substantial rain and also temps in the high 70's.

I like the jacket, Curious as to it's weather protection.

Thanks for any feedback.

I've ridden in pretty hard rain for some distance, i.e. a couple of hours. The zippers have flaps that velcro over them so there's not leakage at those places. I get some rain down the collar, but nothing major.

I don't carry rain gear because of the water resistant properties of the
TII.

Hi Mike, I live in S. Indiana and i have the Transition II jacket and it does get pretty warm even with the vents open. As far as the rain, I wore it on a trip to the Smoky Mtns in May and out of 6 days it rained 4. It worked very good in keeping me dry on that trip! Good luck in finding a suitable jacket. I tried to find one jacket to wear but ended up buying a River Road Yuma mesh jacket and love it!
