THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MOTORCYCLE BUT I HOPE IT MAY HELP SOMEONE OUT THERE. TODAY IS 2 MONTHS OF BEING CIG. CLEAN. IF ANY OF YOU THINK YOU CANT QUIT PLEASE LISTEN TO ME I SMOKED 3 PACKS A DAY AND LOVED IT. (IT WAS BETTER THEN A WINDING ROAD AND NOTHING TO DO BUT RIDE) YOU CAN QUIT SMOKING IF YOU REALLY WANT. THE BEST PART IS NOT HAVING TO STOP THE RIDE FOR A SMOKE

PUT your mind to it. the withdrawls are only about 3 days so just hang in there.

Re: If I Can Quite Smoking, You Can

It seemed to me when I quit 20 years ago that the worst cravings came in threes... three days, three weeks, three months, three years... I'm trying to at least make it to three decades! Don't be lulled into thinking that the cravings just go away... there are times now that I have to gather my wits to resist bumming a nail when I'm around someone who is smoking my old brand.

Coming up on 8 years here, It is the best thing I have ever done for myself.

Re: If I Can Quite Smoking, You Can

Good for you, stopping has been weighing heavy on me lately.

Re: If I Can Quite Smoking, You Can

Congratulations! Its been 5 months since I've had a cig myself. Best thing I ever did.

Re: If I Can Quite Smoking, You Can

I went and bought several cartons before the price went up, and told myself when they're gone, I'm done. I got it bad, just typing that made me want one.

2 years, 1 month, and 1 day tobacco free.

Don't miss it at all, and never have a craving for a cigarette.

SMOKING SUCKS!!!

Re: If I Can Quite Smoking, You Can

Geeze, when I quit, I guess I'll have to remove the humidor from the bike.

Re: If I Can Quite Smoking, You Can

I just passed the 5 year mark on quitting. Best thing I've ever done for myself. For me, it was all about learning to think of myself as a non-smoker. Once I got there, I was home free.

The patch worked for me, just follow the directions and go with it. Get an ex smoker friend (I'm free) to call to talk you down when you have a craving, and you'll make it fine.

Me, too. I've smoked since I was 16. I have stopped for periods of time ranging from several months to several years, but for some reason would alway end up falling of the wagon. When I would stop, it was after psyching myself up by picking a date to quit, being out of smokes, and then going cold turkey. The twitchiness is usually over in a day or two. Just got to get my head right.

Congrats to all that have kicked the habit.

Re: If I Can Quite Smoking, You Can

I quit smoking a year and one month ago. I took the money that I was spending on Cowboy Killers and purchased a 2004 ST-1300. If I go back to smoking The bike will be sold. Now, all of you guy's know that if it's a cigarette or my ST, my ST wins every time! Hyponsis worked for me.

Re: If I Can Quite Smoking, You Can

If you are not sure if your body is made for smoking, take a look in the mirror.
If you see a chimney on top of your head, you could smoke.
If not, your body is just not made for smoking.

If you want to stop using the wrong holes in your body as a smoke exhaust, there is just one way of stopping, as said before, just STOP.

We have a law here for restaurants and bars only a few months and at sevaral places people just continue smoking (= destroying the pleasant and clean environment for other people).
I love smoke free environments.

I can't remember when I quit  I think it's been at least a year :) I just do the cold turkey thing ;)

Congrats! :)

Re: If I Can Quite Smoking, You Can

Way to go keep up the good work. its been 5 yrs. 2 months for me.
Got sick of hearing my loved ones (good) advice, and being an outcast. also the $$$$'s was a factor. Picked op the paper one night and saw an add for
"Stop Smoking Today" $50. Turned out to be group hipnosis seminar.
I went and believe it or not, haven't had one since.Hipnosis really worked for me.
