I am ready to purchase a new jacket for summer. My jacket I had last summer tore and Cycle Gear replaced it easy enough but I went with a more winter jacket since the season turned.

Anyhoo, I have looked at and like the FirstGear Torrent Mesh Jacket in the black & yellow. I have received a pretty amazing price for the jacket also from a reputable local vendor.

I am ready to pull the trigger.

Before I do ...

Anyone have any history with this coat that they feel should be talked about ?

Anyone have any history with 3/4 coats that they would like to talk about ?

The price I am quoted for the jacket is less that 1/2 the price posted on the site.

I have one of those and really like it. Rode all over the country with it last season. So far no issues with it. The liner has done a fine job of keeping out the rain, and put a heated liner under it for even cooler weather.

Chest pockets are not waterproof but the lower pockets are waterproof and I tested that quite well.

I have a Kilimanjaro regular jacket that I like and so the 3/4 mesh was a natural choice to stay in that same line.

Of course last year it was a newer model and not on such a killer sale.I would buy one again.

This is excellent information. I am happy to hear about the liner. We *should* be done with rain until December but that can change. I could easily keep the liner and my rain trousers in one of the side bag liners.

This will be my first 3/4 length jacket and I am still pondering whether I will like such a jacket.

I looked at the Kilimanjaro jackets. I would like one of those but $$ talks a little too loud.

Check Motorcycle Closeouts.com. They have it for 120.00. Good people to do business with. I have the Textile version for the winter and love it. I believe it's called the Jaunt. I just picked up a Fieldsheer Mesh with the added quilted liner for 99.99. It used to be 230,00. Not a 3/4 jacket though.

I really have gone away from first gear due to the back "armor", it seems too weak for my tastes and there is no proper upgrade besides a little more dense pad. 3/4 mesh is great. i really like my olympia bushwacker. I see fieldsheer is also making a 3/4 mesh with waterproof liner http://www.fieldsheer.com/site2009/IE/product/airtourmesh.htm

I purchased the jacket in bright yellow. I put it on and was immediately lost within it.

I'm sure I'll get used to the longer coat style. Dig the easy open pockets.

It's a keeper.

I just got one of those in yellow a few weeks ago. After only 700 miles I'm sure it's a keeper. Now I just have to wait till next year to get a higher-viz helmet to match it. Already used up my annual new gear budget.

I really like the 3/4 length but I'm going to have to get it altered. Apparently I have skinny wrists. When I use the velcro closure in the cuffs, it bundles the zipper up into a huge knot under my wrist. If I can get the cuff size reduced I think I'll just remove the velcro.

Here I am modeling this jacket in my best Abercrombie pose ....

Thank you Carole.
