Anyone had a good workable CB setup installed in their ST to be able to communicate with goldwings on road trips? Intend to have it installed in the topbox.

Look at the J&M set up, works great and you can add music with a mp3 player:biker:.

This works with goldwings? I have seen the actual goldwing CB and the amount of channels they have is impressive!

Yes it works, 40 channels 10 noaa weather channels for the states and the amplified cord for the music, and you must have the J&M cords and headset, its not cheap but it works well and can be transfered to the next bike if you move on. :tent3::biker:

Thanks for the headsup guys! I already have a car deck in my left glove compartment running on mp3/Fm stations.Tapping power from the quartet harness. I believe this J&M set are using the push to talk switch? anyone have an actual setup on their rides?

I have the J&M on my ST. DannyK helped me install it, or I should he did most of the work, and I can't thank him enough for the work and help he provided. I run my Zumo and XM radio through it.

I'm another very satisfied J&M user. The unit gives complete control at your fingertips. The PTT trigger is appropriately placed, letting you activate without removing your left hand from the grip. There's even a PTT button for the passenger. Mine's mounted on the left pillion side grip. I use the 3' antenna offered by J&M, albeit mounted on a MCL mount (on the right-hand side).

The auxiliary plug allows me to incorporate my iPod with its 7000+ song library. The auxiliary circuit is great with an amplifier that does a great job of maintaining a good quality signal without notable clipping.

We use the Elite headsets and the sound quality is superb. I'm picky about sound where my music is concerned and I am totally pleased with these. A bit pricey, but well worth it in my opinion. My brother, who has always shunned in-helmet speakers on his Goldwings and Harleys, opting to use the external speakers instead, has now converted to J&M Elites, as he was bowled over by the sound quality.

The intercom works marvelously, always on, without any VOX or PTT issues. You just talk back and forth as if you were sitting in a room together. If you've got music playing you just talk over it, just like you would chat at home over the TV/stereo/etc.

I've now added a Zumo harness which allows incorporation of the Zumo 550. This not only allows me to hear GPS directions in my headset, but also allows me to receive and make phone calls from my Blackberry via the Zumo's Bluetooth telephone feature.

Frankly, the whole thing is just amazing in its seamless incorporation and its functionality. The ONLY complaint I've got is that when I key up to talk on the CB, my passenger cannot hear what I say. Likewise, when she keys up, I cannot hear her either. This is a nuisance, but we've learned to live with it.

Everything J&M is quite pricey, but I believe it's worth every penny.

Yeah.tnks. I saw your thread. What are the main difference in the J&M set and yours?
You can control everything with J&M, vol, Sq.Channel.
But with my setup,I just turn the bike on , we use Ch 31 in Iceland
But I Don?t want my bike with lot of stuff on the handelbars so did this Setup.
Also it is much cheeper to do my setup.:07biker:

Just want to add, you can control the volume of the passengers mic too,,,,:run1:

I too installed the J&M system on my '04. supplied power via relay through a BlueSea fuse block. have a Sportster Sirius sat radio amplified through the J&M. i also run a full-face with the headphones and mic. works great and everything shuts off with the key.

would supply some pics of the install if i can figure out how to upload them.

but are we able to select the channels? any more photos of you setup set?

There is one shortcoming of the J&M radio that I neglected to mention. The backlighting on the display is worthless at night. The digital display is completely washed out by the backlighting, making it virtually impossible to read in the dark. I intended to call and speak with J&M about this, but have yet to do so.

Just in the interest of complete and honest disclosure... ;)

We use only ch 31 here in Iceland for the Goldwing, so I only use ch 31, so I don?t have to change ch.
I think the picture show it all, the push to talk button, antenna, CB in Top box, and the, Cable in the Top box, the only thing that you can not see is the con. between CB and the Autocom. Just tell what you want to see and I can take some photos for you:):07biker:

hi.thanks for the response. Is there a switch on the CB that lets you switch channels? In the event that you may need to switch the channels , do you have to set it from the CB unit itself? I couldnt see any switches on the CB unit itself.

All the switches are at the front where you can see the gray plug in. There is no mic now, this is just a ordinary car CB:):07biker:
