I ordered the white led's across the pond from Lightenupgrade for the 1300.

This is very personal with the brightness. I have done this two times. First two years ago. I am very happy with the brightness on the tacho and speedo. I also have the White leds. If everything is too bright than you can adjust it with the button on the left side.

Yeah, I adjusted down the brightness on the button as far as it would go and for me, while it's not obnoxiously bright it's brighter than I could use. I needed the LCD backbiting better for the effort, so 96% happy is still high. Here's a wonky video of me removing the LEDs.

I wonder if one would only replace 50% of the original LEDs with the white ones? Maybe not so harsh? I'm going to go buy the kit at some point and might start there and see how I like it. It just stinks the level of PAIN dealing with the pointers if you want back in there to make changes

If I had to do it again, once I got it back together, I felt like the amber lights for the tach and speed do not need to be changed. They are behind a white diffuser for a white display, more than enough light, and they're also physical objects being lit, not like the LCD, it is more dense.. Would use every LED behind the LCD, because the LCD is illuminated differently than the needled gauges.

The speedo and tach are easily read in any light day or night. But I dislike the amber color of the instruments all. It's very dated to me. So at the very least those 5 LEDs would go. Those 5 in white is a brilliant upgrade. Not much to be done about all the blue in the LCD panel but I could live with it.

This is a good if long video on upgrading the dash. It's pretty thorough. You can skip the first 4:05 minutes and start at 4:06. Or at 4:10.

He says "Philips" not JS and his shop technique is a little casual but it's still worth a view.

From the initial two pictures at the beginning of this thread with the amber lights, these four pictures represent different angles of the sun, the first picture is with the sun directly from behind.. Unfortunately, the last picture, bike faced directly in the sun, shows there must be some kind of frame rate with the LCD because it shows there are portions of the information missing, it does not look like this with your eye.
