Holiday magic?
Nah! Just lots of caffeine and wishful thinking... :coffee:

G'Day...

2°/4°C today, the usual gray overcast with drizzle... yuck...

home and office caffeinated I'm lingering at my desk... ☕
December at the office is basically one long "lets look productive till the holidays begin"... ;)

Today I spotted the first cars with fluffy plastic antlers attached to the roof-arches...
We're not gonna make it, are we? People I mean...

GF on her way to a physio, generally doing better every day, but still some sore corners here and there...

To bridge the gap till all episodes of 'Landman' S2 are released, we've started to binge 'Billions'... not too bad IMO...

So, let's make it through the day!

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the coffee, Martin. Being who I am, Christmas doesn't mean a lot to me. I'm certainly no fan of the endless commercialism and artificial, insincere corporate "good wishes" campaigns. That said, it is nice to know that there's a period of time where (some) people actually make an extra effort to be kind and considerate to one another. We could use a lot more of that, and not just for the month of December. (Are you hearing me, "Karen"?)

It's 26°F and clear in Rockville. In another 2 1/2 hours it may also be light. Partly sunny with a high of 41 is the expectation.

Being Thursday it's uke group day. Before that I'll spend some more time at the drawing board working on a design for my dressing bench. I had a flash of inspiration upon awaking today: why not make a piece that matches (or at least closely mimics) our existing bedroom suite? The existing pieces are in a loose art deco style, which we both like. Rather than have something of a jarringly different (albeit appealing- to my taste at least) style, I think I'll try to reproduce the lines and curves of our bed and dressers.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Aye up me ducks?, as an old friend of ours would say.

Thanks Martin for the coffee. (Oh Ethel....)

-4 here and dark for the drive in. The trees are still coated in white-a-plenty, which may be their demise. Snow/rain here today, still around freezing, so I'm expecting the extra weight will cause severe bowing and or snappage. I'm not a tree, so there's that going for me already. Dense as wood you say? Well, at least I'm not a tree.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Obo.

Thx for the coffee Martin!
And for reminding me to install my tiny christmastree with blue and red lights.
The socket fits the lighter outtake in the car, and I usually place it out of sight for the driver.
Some day the police will stop me.

8˚c/46, calm, supposed to rain all day, but I can see the sun.
Darkness for 18 hours when it sets….pffffffffft! as someone once (or twice) said.

Yesterdays visit at the hospital was as sad as expected.

Now to cook something.

Have a good a productive (or not) one!

Stu

From todays walk….sun barely over the horizon

Good morning, all, and thanks for the coffee, Martin.

We've had some white stuff overnight and it's still snowing lightly this morning. That should clear to a mix of sun and clouds for the rest of the day (uh-huh...they said that yesterday and there wasn't much sun to be seen). Temperatures will drop rather than rise today. It's currently -4°C/25°F with a feels-like of -10°C/14°F and it will only get colder from here. I share Keith's sentiments concerning the approaching winter solstice; we'll still have the coldest months ahead of us, but at least the days will start getting "longer."

Gotta get back to the grind. Everybody have a good one, stay safe and go safely.

Patty

Good morning and thanks for the coffee, Martin.

It's cloudy and 26 in MA this morning, rising to 36, later.

I got to the gym for a bit, yesterday, and Brenda and I did some shopping. We were looking for a way to mount one of our new TV's in the spare room, but found nothing at the moment. We'll buy some desk mount feet from Amazon, and will keep looking for a table.

Today will involve another gym visit, and I'll more permanently secure the top shelf of the TV cabinet.

Stu, I'm sad to hear about your wife's uncle.

Have a good day,
Steve

The next-to-last day of the week.
Such a tease, innit?
Clear night sky at 1am things morning, as I stayed up too late... and surprised to see a full moon, or really close to it. With the recent cloud cover, I hadn't seen the moon in days.
Er, ... in nights, I suppose.
Clouds are back and probably some rain today, can't see the moon or the sun, but I can sure feel the cold.
Time to get out of here, but first -- thanks for the coffee Martin.
Good to be back.

Morning, everyone. Thanks for the needed hot coffee this morning, Martin.

31/41 with wintery mix late afternoon. I guess it only affects me if I go outside. Teddy is loving the weather. Every morning, he goes out and lays down in the frosted grass, looking at the sky in hopes of seeing snowflakes.

John

Pffftt….We miss you, Ray.

surprised to see a full moon, or really close to it ... I hadn't seen the moon in days. ... Errr, nights I suppose

Could be either.

It occurred to me when I awoke around 0400 that the full moon is approaching, if not already on us. There seems to be at least a circumstantial / anecdotal correlation between the full moon and my (in)ability to sleep. It may simply be happenstance.

I hope I'm not turning into a werewolf. Brie wouldn't react well to that.

Morning Martin & All from sunny, Southern Utah!

Currently, it is 29F, up from 14F and heading for 41F. Most of the white stuff is gone, just a little in the shady areas. No breeze yet, but later the winds will join us, coming from the NNW @ 6 to 7 mph.

Stu, :pray1: that the family will be comforted during this time.

Chris got word, that three of the older people she knew passed this last week, not including my aunt. I'm not sure if it's the cold or what, but she's now really worried about her 93 year old father! :cautious:

I pulled in the Christmas stuff and Chris got it all set up. So, the inside of the house looks festive. I still have the outside, but I think I'll wait for tomorrow when the Temperature will be 8F higher than today.

BTW Stu, thanks for reminding me about my Christmas tree for my office. Now my office looks festive as well.

Eggs, bacon, toast & OJ to start the morning. Pepsi(s) for later.

Anyone :bk13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:

Good afternoon all!
Thanks for the hot start Martin!

Ray, I’ll add my “we miss you”” to the rest!
Your banter kept me amused!

I polished up my steep (snow covered) cement driveway with my loader tractor, trying to climb back up to its parking area! I then took numerous falls on the mess, the last one wrecked my previously damaged shoulder! It is a wee bit better today!
