🄶 The Paulcb coldest ride of Winter 2025-2026

Same here. Just can't seem to overcome the urge to stay under cover. We'll be getting those cool temps Saturday and Sunday morning. As low as 9*F if I can get up early enough. Otherwise the best I can expect is around 13*F during the day Saturday. We'll see what I can muster.

Darn it. Snowing again right now... and sticking to the streets. Expecting 9*F in the early morning but I'd miss that anyway. Too early for me these days. But I'll also miss the 11*F at the time I could ride... if it weren't snowing now.
Oh well, Monday morning between 8 and 10 am it is expected to be between 4*F and 6*F so maybe the streets will stay clear for me at that time. I wanna get out. I just bought a cheap pair of battery heated gloves that I want to test.

edit: Now today is the morning after... And it is confirmed... no riding in this stuff on a sport cruiser. And in front of my house is where it is less snowfall than just a few miles away in any direction.

That's what our place looked like at 8 this morning, but it got above freezing and eventually melted off the street enough that I could get out about 4 PM for a 37 mile ride @ 33 degrees with some light flurries at the end of the ride. Monday and Tuesday are supposed to be brutal (for us)

Regular snow here this year so haven't pondered riding the bike much. But you guys are getting me thinking it's time to ride.....Maybe by the end of the week the roads will be less capable of donating a coating of salt to a bike? Just dust for snow last week and this weekend so it mostly blew around and only stuck on parts of roads so less overall salt around. And there's a call for -24 for a low on Friday morning. No students that day so I could park a bike in the school's heated auto shop and up the odds of starting the bike to get home. Or could just go for a ride Saturday after daylight and possibly hit the coldest of the cold. Now taking gloves off to dig out a warm phone and get a picture....that's the insane part. Probably I'll have to go with 2 wheels since a new to me sidecar vstrom 650 is blocking the ST1100 hack with wheel removed/waiting for wheel bearings. If not I'll think of you guys sometime when it's at least below freezing in March or April.

or maybe for the heck of it I'll post a snowmobile ride when the thawed and refrozen ice layer gets a thick coating of snow late February. I haven't even done more than ride the snow machine to the gas station and back in December, when we had early snow....before the first thaw/refreeze, since the cross country skiing was pretty good and got my attention over motoring around. A picture to remember how lucky we were in December.

Cheers!

Only expecting zero*F here in the morning but the streets look exactly like in my last picture a few posts ago. Usually sublimation clears the streets at least but not this time around. Should see a few degrees below zero around the end of next week (Fri, Sat, Sun) and a high of +6*F Friday with several days of no snowfall before that so maybe streets will be cleared off by then.

Here's a picture of my bike at work today, 10am. Hey! Why did they take away all the Motorcycle Only parking!?!

Left home at 8:30 with Weather Underground reporting -6°F. Got back home at 10:30 with a reported -4°F after a 50-mile journey.
I only went in to get some IT help for my dead laptop. Wasted trip as it turns out Medtronic takes MLK day seriously. Nobody there.

Oh well, I'll take the -4°F and show @Mellow he should have used ":" not "-" as his spacer.

A long long time ago in a far... wait that was here. Anyway it does seem like a long long time ago I rode 60+ miles at just cooler than -15*F. Don't think I'll be doing that this year. Today was +2*F early but still snow on the roads. Looking better now with a few paths through the snow that drifted across the roads. I now have a pair of battery heated gloves but they only last maybe 3 hrs so no 60 mile rides at those temps. A naked bike just doesn't allow for that even with handlebar muffs. But I might make it at near zero*F sometime later this week if further snow storms hold off.

I did it lol.... actually rolled out of bed and on the road before dawn lol
