I did totally agree with the opening. Around here in the Puget Sound region, a lot of "bikers" put away their bikes in September and pull them out in May...or later. Whenever the temp will be over 50F and no rain is in the forecast. That only leaves a few months to get out of the bad habits of driving a car and into the mental attitude and skill set to ride a motorcycle. I've long said that just because you have been riding for 20 years, doesn't mean you have 20 years of experience. It can easily be that you have 1 year of experience repeated 20 times.
The only issue that made me uncomfortable was the very premise of comparing experienced and "inexperienced" riders. I always think the rule "ride your own ride" is such a key lesson.
