Having issues with the Sena 50S mic, phone calls can be heard but they can't hear me.

I've been searching for a few weeks now and I'm really not coming up with anything.

I pair the Sena 50S to the bike only. pair my phone to the bike. I can hear music from the bike, I can make calls and hear the other end but they can't hear me. I did a factory reset on the Sena 50S and then re paired to the bike and made a call, this time was able to hear and talk to the other side. after a few days of music use only I attempted to make a call this morning and again, they can't hear me.

This is the first Sena BT I've owned and either I am doing something wrong or the Sena 50S is the issue.

I have to believe I'm doing something wrong but as this is my first bike with all the electronics I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.

Any Sena experts out there have any recommendations to get me sorted?

Would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have Senas but do have Packtalk Bolds. I don't believe it will work with the phone paired to the bike. It must be plugged into the usb port and bluetooth turned off on the phone. I don't know which phone you have, I have an IPhone. It only works with a high quality cable such as the original apple chord and there is one other which I have but can’t remember the name.

Make sure phone BT is off and it is plugged in.

I don't have the Sena but rather a Cardo unit. Try this. Do not pair the phone to the bike via bluetooth (turn bluetooth off) but rather attach via USB cable. That allows me to use Apple Carplay and phone works perfect as well as all the other features. Pandora, Google Maps, Siri, etc.

Do you have an iphone?

I have a Sena 50s, a Garmin 595, a Sirius receiver which uses a built in FM modulator to make a signal the Sena picks up and two Iphones. They seem to play well together. Phone calls work perfectly. Please do not ask how I did this because I have no idea. It just worked. I have heard about other Sena 50s problems and the warranty is known to replace units.

I don't use my SENA to make or receive phone calls; don't want to be disturbed while riding. Don't connect the phone to the bike via blue tooth, only connect SENA via blue tooth to the Wing. Connect phone via USB cord and use Apple Carplay to phone and message. I'm sure John will chime in and give the specifics on how to make it work for calls and texts.

Fali is right about not bluetoothing phone to bike. We’re using 20S, but the 50S should be the same.

1. Turn off the Bluetooth on your Phone.
2. Pair the Sena, only to the bike.
3. Plug your phone into the USB cord, in the front cubby.
4. Use either Apply CarPlay or Android Auto for the apps.

Startup sequence is somewhat critical, to make sure everything connects in proper order.

1. Start bike.
2. Turn on Sena and wait until you can hear the radio in the headset. Headset icon will appear in top left of the screen.
3. Plug in the phone.
4. CarPlay or Android Auto will show up in home screen on dash.

If you’re using an iPhone, after it connects once, go into your phone settings and allow CarPlay while locked. This lets CarPlay run, without the phone screen being on. The setting can be found under Settings/General/CarPlay.

It’s a little troublesome, getting everything right, the first time. But after it connects once, it’s just turn on bike and Sena and plug in the phone. Mine’s been working fine for 3 years.

If you have any problems or questions, feel free to ask.

I forgot to add that it takes a long time to learn which way the cursor goes, when using CarPlay. Sometimes, up/down makes it go left/right. And then sometimes up/down makes it go down/up.
