700 mile Business Trip on 2000 ST1100 with 75K?

In the fall I bought a 2000 ST1100 with 75K miles. Put new tires on her, changed all fluids, and looks like brakes have plenty of pads. She run and rides great. The bike also had plenty of past information on its updates from the person I bought it from and the ST Owners Group. I have a 700 mile business trip coming up in May that I want to take her on. Any thing to be aware of before I do that?

I would just make sure I got a couple of good rides in beforehand to make sure everything is honky dory.
Have you checked the coolant at the radiator cap too?

Thats a week and half of commuting for me. As long as its not dripping fluids and otherwise running normally chances are exceedingly good that you will have an uneventful trip.

Have no fear. I've done around 400 highway shakedown miles since April 2023. I have a 2000 St1100 like yours and in June I will be doing a RTE ride around 850 miles in 2 day's and I will not lose any sleep what so ever thinking my 85K bike miles ain't going to make it. These bikes are sorta like a Honda Accord bulletproof. So ride on brother.

Do you know if the coolant hoses under the carbs have ever been replaced? I had one of them blow on the 2001 I had shortly after I bought it at 41k miles. Fortunately I was only a few miles from home. If that's been done and everything else has been maintained properly, I'd have no hesitation. I did an Iron Butt Saddle Sore 1000 on mine after fixing it.

Go take the trip. Technically, you still have 18K miles to go on the existing timing belt but when you get back, I would take the initiative to swap the belt and under the carb hoses as many here have done (myself included), but don’t let that deter you from the trip. When I pulled off my old belt and hoses, they were still in excellent condition- some have had hose bulging and rupture, but I think that’s a rather small minority of owners.

I've got one ST1100 with 176,000+miles, one with 140,000+ miles, one with 130,000+ miles and one with 60,000+ miles.
700 miles ain't even a drop in the bucket on these machines.
I just got back from a 1,400+ mile trip on the one that has 176,000+ miles on it.
I plan on riding it up to the Fulton Store which will be another 1,300+ miles.
Don't sweat the small stuff - the best thing you can do to a ST1100 is ride it, not tinker with it.
Make sure the oil level is where it should be and you've got sufficient 'tire' to make the trip and ride on!

That motorcycle is just hitting break-in, go ride.

P.S.
Calculate how long you think that it will take you to get to your business commitment, then add at least 50%, otherwise you will get there late. You will be enjoying the ride so much that you will always be searching out and taking the long way there.

They were replace at about 60k. The old owner had pictures. Very helpful.

I have a 2003 with almost the same mileage. A group of friends and I did a "Chili Dog Run" from here just south of Portland, up to Fife Wa. and then went highway 7 to 512 back to I-5 and home. 354 miles and the bike performed flawlessly.

I have owned Robbie's '01 since August of '18, going on five years, and it has run flawlessly to this day.

If you start with a full tank you will only have to make 2 fuel stops for the whole trip.
