The Numb Bum 24 is somewhat like the 24 hours of Le Mans - it is a 24 hour endurance race and the racers run to their bikes and start them. That's where the similarity ends. The NB24 takes place on a frozen lake in Alberta with bikes racing with 1 1/2" spikes on their tires. The winner is the guy who braves sub zero temps, breath taking (and breath freezing) wind chill numbers and completes the most laps. Since their spikes on the tires have a tendency to chew through the ice the course is changed a number of times throughout the race. A bun burner? Heck no, a bun freezer. Looky here. And, this years race last February.
Edit: I just found videos of the race on youtube.
