G'Day...

13°/27°C... talk about "hot'n'cold" these days... ;)

home Nespresso... ☕
office Nescafé... :coffee:
which doesn’t just give me energy... it helps me to build enough restraint to not narrate everyone’s stupidity...
(I guess one can still read the subtitles on my face though... 😁)

me commuting on the ST...
and so is ze GF on her NT... but she'll goes straight to her place after work...
sticking me with having to use the car to follow her in the evening, dragging food and laundry along... grrr...

I mentioned odd behavior of 50 & 125cc riders... zis mornin' I'd to witness a special incident:
sitting at an intersection one of those 125cc squeezed by me, actually running the red light there! DAFUQ?!! Darwinism at its best...

I mean even if it shows solid green for a while, I still look left and right to not get hit by a smombie in his car blasting through...

anyhoo, back to A.S.A.P. ... ;)

enjoy the weekend!

Thx Martin!
And thx to all for birthday greetings yesterday!
The party was okish.

Today is the usual.
Buying shrimps and vino.
Clear the old deck, while waiting for new materials.
Wash outside housewalls.
Finish off the boat cleanup.

It’s hot here too….kind of.
15˚c/59f, some clouds, 30mph wind from south.

Enjoy the end of the week!

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the coffee, Martin.

It's 52°F - delightfully cool - in Rockville and very quiet in the usual pre-dawn hush. Once Mr. Sun starts doing his thing it'll get to about 78, with few clouds.

Goof is on today's agenda, and also dinner with friends.

Stay safe ad well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Martin.
We're having some discussions about E-bike users and rules here in MA, since they seem to be regularly punted by other traffic.
They just had a kid on TV this morning who was riding his at ~45 mph and ran into a car.
I often see kids and others around town, riding on the sidewalk, no helmet or against traffic flow.
... yeah, I know... GET OFF MY LAWN!

It's 53, going to 68 in Loudon, NH today with 10-15mph winds forecast. Also forecast are some rain showers later in the day.

We're off in a bit to go up and work the Penguin track day, and then the NEMRR races this weekend.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

Morning all, and thanks for the startup Martin.

No cake today? Pity.

A chilly 8C with scattered raindrops for the ride in. We'll see 12 later on, under cloudy skies. I've a 12ish hour workday today, so what is decides to do outside is mostly irrelevant.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Obo.

Thanks for pouring coffee for everyone, Martin. We're all appreciative! In these parts, just another cool overcast day. This last while, I've been working on getting a transaction completed involving swapping some wheels. Sold Miata a couple of weeks ago. Should find out this weekend if the pending sale of the Transit 350 will be concluded. All this is part of taking home a new four-wheeled Honda. In other news, getting a bit of packing underway for the upcoming OhSToc trip.

Good morning, everyone. Thanks for the shot of starting fluid, Martin.

Let’s see…68/78 and about another 1/2” of rain expected. Yesterday, it sprinkled, off and on, just enough to keep the grass too wet to mow. Maybe I can get a break, between the time the dew dries and before the afternoon rain starts.

It’s one week til my RTE. Wouldn’t hurt to pack your rain gear. Just saying.

Same discussion and issues out here in UT. I don't pay much attention to it because I like ICE bikes, but I think there's some new regulation that dropped where someone without a license is limited to no more than 750W and it must have pedals. Of course, parents here in UT are just the worst, so I don't expect that reg to change things much.

Yeah, also over here those e-scooters are a nuisance outta control...
Minors (<14 years, so not criminally responsible) like to race with the police... "... you can't do me anything anyway!..."
No helmet, no regards for safety or regulations, two kids/persons on one scooter a frequent sight...
Not a week passing by without serious accidents, often lethal, like when pulling out into the road, crashing into a moving car...
But also violent collisions with persons right on the sidewalk/pedestrian zone or with bicycles are a daily issue...
Also I had my fair share of encounters, in the car and on the ST, with them just popping out of nowhere or irrational swerving across the lane...
Those vehicles have also grown into favorite getaways for pickpockets and robbers...
Legislation is years behind on this, they try by making helmets and t/signals mandatory, banning them from sidewalks and bicycle lanes, limit them to 600W/15mph max but pfffff, no one cares...

Well, dang. Cooked breakfast, washed dishes, while waiting for dew to burn off. But, sometime while I wasn’t looking, it sprinkled just enough to wet the grass again.

I guess I’ll pressure wash a bit, and then see it the lawn dries up enough to mow.

@Mandrake I recently started back into RC after a 20 year break. My first flight with the TTE went great, although the rolling circles were a little clumsy. Thumbs never forget.

I don't think so at all. The situation has gotten out of control with all of these unregistered electric vehicles. I think that you have legitimate concerns as they are a menace to everyone who uses public facilities. It used to be that motorized vehicles of any kind, including electric, were not allowed on bicycle paths here. Now there are e-bikes, electric scooters, and electric stand-up scooters all zipping around all over the place like maniacs. I know that those e-bikes and scooters will do at least 40 KMH / 25 MPH. In my community the speed limit is 30 KMH / 20 mph. I usually do between 35 and 40 KMH or between 20 and 25 MPH and those things go flying past me. They not only do these speeds on the road but also on the bicycle paths, which have a speed limit of 20 KMH / 12 MPH because they are used by all manner of people including little kids on tricycles. They also zip along at those speeds on the pedestrian paths creating the same dangers there. Some of those e-bikes are very heavy and when they hit someone at those speeds there will be injuries. Earlier this spring a woman was hit by one and had to be rushed to the hospital and spent a few days in a coma. The e-bike rider ripped around a blind corner at those speeds and ran right in to her- she was on the pedestrian path, not the bicycle path. He was knocked off of his e-bike but he got up and took off leaving other people to see to her. He was never found because he had no license plate that could be recorded for the police.
No helmet, no regards for safety or regulations, two kids/persons on one scooter a frequent sight...
This never made sense to me either. I can't exceed 30 KMH / 20 mph on my local roads. Nonetheless I have to wear a helmet, and I have to have a registered, licensed, and insured motorcycle. Even if I am riding a 50 cc scooter that can't go any faster than their e-bike it still has to have a headlight and tail light that are on at all times, and I must obey all traffic rules. These people riding these e-bikes are exposed to the same dangers (more because of how they drive) as me, travel at faster speeds than I can and don't have to have a helmet, or lights, or a horn, or anything else that I am forced to have by law. How is it that their mode of transit has a lower danger level than mine? It doesn't. They actually are at greater risk because they have no helmet, and no lights even though they are out at night, no horn, and because they observe no rules or laws and drive like lunatics.

As has been often been said- the law is an ass but something needs to be done. If I made the laws they would be subject to the same rules as every other motorized vehicle. I couldn't care less about these people, if they want to drive like idiots and slam in to a tree and hurt themselves that is their problem. The problem is that it is rarely a tree that they hit. I am more concerned about everyone else who also uses those facilities, like the four year old having fun riding her tricycle who gets run over by one of these idiots.

G'mornin' from the office! It was a lovely ride in and traffic was quite tolerable, moreso thanks to the morning Joe. Thank you, Martin!

A light day today, incoming work has slowed and several boss-people are out. So, I'm left to my own evil devices, errr, find work to do. But I'll also play some volleyball at lunchtime. Tonight? Who knows.

I did learn yesterday that my no-name TPMS system is indeed quite waterproof. Went to wash my riding jacket and jeans as they were getting, ah, odiferous with the smells of gasoline, diesel, smoking paraphernalia, and sweat. Was in my office when I heard clanking and first thought the washer was broken. Then thought that "hey I haven't seen my pocketknife in a day or two". So I stopped the washed and felt around the tub bottom, but what I felt wasn't a knife. It was my TPMS unit that detaches from my handlebars. Dangit! But I didn't see water inside the screen so I turned it on, and it still worked! Opened up the battery compartment and split the case just in case, but no water got in at all. Nice! So score one for them for designing it right. What a relief. Anyhow, that's today's story.

Take care y'all!

Yes even the car drivers do that here. Siting at a red light the other day on my FJR in a double lane. Person in BMW SUV sits in the lane next to me. We are there at the red light for about 45 seconds and then he just drive on thru almost getting hit by a crossing green light car and then he almost hits another crossing green light car. I am still sitting at my red light watching in disbelief. Not really, I expect these fools to do things like this.

John

I got into it about a year ago after a 20-ish year break as well and was blown away at how far the technology has come. I feel like the skill has shifted from building to programming. Remember way back when a foamie and electrics were a joke? Isn't it amazing just how good the electric foamies are now? As much as I love the Saito FG-21 in my Carbon Cub, there is something to be said with how well the Timbers fly. Sadly, kits are few and far between now and I kind of have a laugh when someone compliments me on my Carbon Cub because I didn't build it. I just assembled it. I managed to find a 40 year old NIB Sig Kadet Senior kit and picked up a Saito FG-11 for it. It'll be this coming winter's build.
