Hi,
my 1995 ST1100 ABS (AS model for Australia) has a RHS mirror part 88110-MAJ-R01 which is extremely hard to get. 88110-MAJ-G01 is easier to order but I have failed to work out the difference beween the two.
Has anybody else already been down this road?
Regards
Garry

Not sure what you're asking. They are not interchangeable. I bought a RH mirror from eBay over a year ago out of Czech Republic, but it didn't look to match the curve of the aurround it fits into. Others have said it works if you warm up the plastic first. Someday I'll give it a go.

Hi jdmccright, the question I am asking is the mirror assembly for R01 and G01 fundamentally the same and interchangeable or not? I am not talking about replacing the glass in the existing mirror but a complete replacement.

On the face, no they are different too. BUT...I do not know if you can swap the RH mirror holder onto a LH stem and mount it on the RH side. I think the stems have subtle angles that are different but I'd need to swap my own to see.

If you are talking about the metal stalks assembly, I would say a right is a right and a left is a left. The actual mirror holding pieces look slightly different. A part number cast into the aluminium (Australian) has an R and a L for right and left. The mirror holder looks more horizontal across the top and curved across the bottom. The plastic covers won't fit around the mirrors.

If you're looking to interchange them, I would say, no you can't. Maybe to get home.

He is not asking about left-hand vs right-hand. Both part numbers that he referenced are right-hand mirror assemblies. He is asking what is the difference between the 88110-MAJ-R01 and the 88110-MAJ-G01. I don't know the answer.

Thanks guys, in particular Andrew. Just because something is not in Partzilla does not mean it does not exist. Partzilla does not carry parts for all country models. Australia in particular.

Can somebody who uses a G01 atleast confirm it is a convex lens in both directions getting more extreme the further out you go from the bike.

Regards
Garry

You're welcome.
Do you have an account at CMSNL?

If you enter the P/N in the CMSNL search box it will display all of the ST1100 models where that P/N is used. It includes all of the models worldwide for every country. You can only see the entire list of models if you are signed in. If you are not signed in it only shows ten or so. I don't have an account with them so I can't see the entire list so I can't check for you.

If you have an account with them sign in and check to see if both part numbers are applicable to your particular model ST1100. If they are they should both fit your model.
If you don't have an account with them there are many members of this forum who have purchased parts from CMSNL. Maybe one of them will sign in and check for you if you provide the exact year and model of your ST1100 including the country code, which I presume is Australia.

Hi Andrew,
I have a CMSNL account and many others. The R01 mirror is primarily used in Australia, Spain and Norway. The G01 is used elsewhere. Australia ONLY uses the R01. The USA ONLY uses the G01. If both mirrors are convex it is probably worth a try.

I know the US RH mirror is convex.
