A friend of mine recently purchased a 1999 ST1100 and wants to change the clutch lever to the adjustable type. I have seen several posts here recommending the Kuryakyn levers for the GL1800 as an alternate for the ST1300 with some minor alteration. Does anyone know if the Kuryakyn levers will work on the ST1100 also?
 
Just a note - it matters whether the ST1100 is a standard or an ABSII. The front brake cylinder actuators are different and determines what works and what doesn't. For the ABSII, there is a model of adjustable VFR levels IIRC that work.
 
I've got bothand the standard has a different 'plunger' than most. The VFR levers worked on the clutch side but not on the brake side. The best way would be for him to look at what his plunger looks like versus what the plunger on the bike the replacement levers are designed for.

The aftermarket has several sources for adjustable clutch and brake levers, the 97 VFR levers will fit the non-ABS ST1100. Check my album for some photos of both stock and adjustable levers, showing minimum and maximum reach. These are the "long" versions but there are "stubby/short one available also. Hope it helps. My ST1100 Non ABS had adjustable levers put on it by the P.O. Part numbers are Brake side 53170-MW0-006 and Clutch 53180-ML7-692. Supposedly from an RC45 (VFR-750F)

Just did a couple searches for those part numbers and came up empty. This topic has been confusing in the past because some use the term VFR levers (implying OEM) when what should be said is 'aftermarket levers for a VFR.
 
If he wants a 'matching' set, here's the deal on the brake side. The ABSII has an adjustable 'cap and ball' plunger, the standard has an adjustable 'shoulder' plunger. The clutch side is a 'ball and cap' plunger with no adjustment. Before I had my wrists operated on, I was looking for adjustable levers for Redbird, my standard. Here's an email I received back in 2003 that may be helpful -

I have been reading some of the clutch mails. Just information; The 1800GW clutch master cylinder and the ST1100 are both the same. The difference is the clutch lever. The 1800GW lever is about 1" longer and provides more leverage. There are two things that you must do, first the 1800GW lever has a 'tab' on the bottom and you will need to remove it. Second you will need to move your clutch master cylinder, about 1" from the grip. This extra leverage helps reduce the pull required to operate the clutch, if you spend time in traffic it's become noticeable very quickly.

Has anyone actually tried the Kuryakyn Adjustable CLUTCH (not brake) lever that fits a GL1800 on a ST1100 AND did it work out OK? I would prefer to buy the Kuryakn adjustable (that fits the Gl1800) for my ST1100 clutch lever - but only if someone can affirm that it indeed works. Thanks.
 
Here is the info for a non-ABS St1100. I posted this earlier this year and am very happy with the product.

Just installed a pair of cam style adjustable levers to fit the ST1100. It seems nobody on the web lists adjustable levers for the ST1100, but someone on an old post spoke of using levers from a Honda VFR750 (1997). I found a regular length pair listed at www.the2wheels.com and they fit and work great. Shipping from Hong Kong to Canada was included at $35.80 (wow) and took about 2.5 weeks to arrive. The part number was 270773331470 on their site. They also offer a short 2 finger version also with the cam type adjusters at the same price. Also come in a variety of colors.

Searched my @ss off trying to get my hands on a compatible aftermarket ABS gen.2 brake lever with the correct 'ball and cap' plunger.
The clutch side is no issue. However searched high and low but no success in finding a compatible brake lever.
Sadly it seems production only centers around generation ABS generation 1 'shoulder' plunger configuration.
If someone does know a manufacturer or store that sells compatible generation 2 ABS brake levers I am the first who wants to know.
 
If anybody is willing to put this through Google webpage translate and give his/her thoughts on the matter?!
The topic starter paid top dollar for a pair of high quality after market levers to be attached to a ABSII ended up with '50% useless' result.

Verstelbare hendels (rem+koppeling)

Hallo allen, Nu ik wat gewend begin te raken aan mijn ST1100, is mij één minpuntje eigenlijk opgevallen. Niet geheel toe te wijden aan de motor, ik ben nu eenmaal niet gezegend met wat groter formaat handen... De koppelingshendel zit te ver van mijn stuur vandaan om lekker te kunnen koppelen...
