Good morning everyone

Thanks for the start, Martin. I hope things slow down to the point where you can actually drink your coffee sometime today.

It's 68°F in Rockville and humid enough to feel like 72 as the sky begins to brighten ahead of the impending sunrise. 86, humid, and partly sunny is the call for later- pretty much the usual summer pattern for the region.

Yesterday's trip back from Charlotte was uneventful but man-oh-MAN do I detest the stretch between Richmond VA and Fredericksburg VA. It was literally an uninterrupted 60 mile traffic tie-up, and added over an hour to what the trip ought to take. Thankfully my CR-V has adaptive cruise control, and it's good enough that I didn't have to touch either the gas or brake the entire way: when the vehicle in front of me was forced to grind to a halt, the CC did the same for me then restarted me at the proper moment. Cruise set at 71, actual ground speed varied and yo-yoed from 0 to 30.

Old Guy Goof is the agenda for today, and maybe laundry after.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Just remember, lack of planning / emergencies on other people's part is no excuse for you to pickup your pace or to buy into their insanity. Get yourself one of those "please take a number" machines. Passive aggressive can be a mantra. "Yeah, yeah. Hold your horses."

13C and foggy for the ride in. Some spots it was mild and some it was soup. It's suppose d to burn off and be a sunny 24 for the ride home.

Thanks for the coffee Martin, somewhat appreciated this morning. It is 55F here, heading to a forecast 84F (and most likely higher) under clear skies.

I say somewhat appreciated as I am still groggy. Today was the first time I have slept past 4:30AM in several weeks (sheer joy), but was awoken at 6:30AM by the "beep, beep, beep" from a heavy truck backing up my driveway. I can't complain too much, it was delivering a machine to lift the roof trusses (and plywood and shingles) for the new garage.
Unfortunately the ST is still hidden behind piles of "garage stuff" that I piled into the shed when the old garage was torn down. The periodic showers and mini monsoons have kept the pain from not being able to get to it minimalized but.......

Speaking of deer, there may be some vacationing on my woodlot. I have been getting quite a few photos of them grazing hither and yon. (And a decent sized bear playing peek-a-boo in the tall grass)

Be safe, be careful and stay away from the sparkly thunder sky!

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Martin.

It's 63 and sunny in MA this morning, rising to 86 with more sun to be had.

Yesterday's plan to weed my front and side walkway went off well, as did the trip to HD for caulk and mulch. I came up about 4 bags short, when I spread the mulch out, so I'll be back to HD again, today.
That took most of the day, with frequent stops to re-hydrate.
Afterward, we went to our favorite local Chinese/Japanese place, where I tried their poke. Mmm. I chose tuna and yellowfin as my protein and it made for a light and tasty dinner.

Today, I'll head over to the gym for a bit, and then Home Depot, since they're in the same mall.
We haven't heard from our Dedham son and family since their hand-foot and mouth incident, so we might tag up with them, by way of the range.

Keith, I remember that section, and couldn't believe how many cars and trucks were able to go so slow! Glad you made it home, but it must have been maddening.

@Sadlsor Not the first time it's snowed here in June. The most famous—and devastating—instance of summer snow here occurred during the 1816 "Year Without a Summer". Following the massive eruption of Indonesia's Mount Tambora in 1815 (similar to Martin's workplace I'd wager,) stratospheric ash dimmed the sun globally, resulting in crop-killing frost and ice on the ground across the region throughout July and August. I wasn't around to see it, so I have to take the historical writings as correct.

I must admit, that is one thought that's never crossed my mind.
Either way, I am not inclined to think of shoveling snow... anywhere, any season, or for any reason.
If you ever see me performing such an activity, you will know something in my life has gone horribly wrong!

I'd rather shovel snow in the heat any day vs shovelling manure in the heat.

One has to take it in a sporting way...
Fighting Murphy's Law is pretty impossible... won't stop once in motion, it just won't... can only observe the chain of events unfold and finally lose momentum by itself at some point... I am a leaf on the wind, watch how I soar... (Serenity/Firefly)...

so after it began by our fella ordering the wrong outdoor units, it started to really "flow"...
- only two 3-phase power supplies were installed; the spark had to come again for installing a 3rd line...
- upon attempted start on the next day that bloody newly installed breaker tripped... the spark had mixed up something with the neutral... thus had to drive there again to fix it...
- the spark had barely left the site, the breaker for the indoor supply for entire upper floor started tripping... so the spark promptly returned, doing our installers job in circling it down the culprit to one indoor unit actually having a short...
- in between our dudes had mixed up some communication wiring, didn't set any address switches at all(!!) (RTFM you numb-nuts!!! its packed with every unit!!! 🤬 ), they ran out of refrigerant so I had to reorder, and so on and so forth...

At times you're surrounded... 😒

Methinks the site is kinda haunted... possible located above an ancient witch burning place...

I've shoveled snow in the freezing cold, and I've shoveled plenty of manure in the Southern Summer heat.
But I have NEVER shoveled snow in the heat. Where do you do that, anyway?
In MY example and experience, I'd rather shoveled the bovine or horse poop.
In the heat, of course...
Your Shoveling Preference May Vary.
 
G'mornin' from SoMD! Well, compared to this past weekend, Monday should be a cake-walk. Even more so since I'm WFH today where IRL interactions are blessedly limited. Already warm and humid outside, sitting at 77F/25C and 88%RH. First cuppa down the hatch to ward off the evil thoughts, thanks Martin!

Well despite the furor distractions caused by the MIL, I did get several things done for her: replaced 8 of 10 of the garage door rollers, power washed the patio and garden pavers, rechecked and turned water back on to the ice maker, replaced bathroom faucet aerators, got her outside and to the pool, and prepared more of my supposedly famous baked salmon for her. Mission accomplished. Tough love at its highest difficulty level. And now I enjoy a few months reprieve until the next mission impossible. Apologies to the BIL for consuming what little tequila there was in his stash, but it was medically necessary and I did replace the whole bottle.

Today, as noted, is WFH and maybe some laundry here and there in between the Prince of Purrrsia glomming on me after being gone for what must've been "furever":p, nm the pet sitter that came in 3x each day. Maybe also some garage work that's piled up or work on the daughter's Prius. It's a Maybe Monday.

Morning Martin & All from sunny, Southern Utah!

Currently it is 56F, and heading for 78F. A slight breeze now, but later the winds will be out of the WSW @ 10 to 14mph.

We still have plenty of fires raging around the area. Three firefighters were killed near the Utah Colorado border. Two were hurt and taken to a hospital. Prayers continued for all of them out there fighting these fires.

Chris and her sisters made to El Segundo (that's one mile below LAX). Hopefully their short visit will be a good one for them.

I will continue to be unsupervised, but I have plenty to do to keep me busy and out of trouble.

I need to go into the kitchen and get me some breakfast. Eggs, bacon, toast and OJ, will be to start the morning. Pepsi(s) will be had later.

Just got back from touring Europe. The last 2 weeks were in southern France (Provence and Menton/Monaco), then up through the French Alps and back to Zurich where we flew home from. The record heatwave in Europe has been all over the news here in the US and we experienced it. Temps were in the mid 90s F (35C) every day. In the final 2 days back in Switzerland, we saw temps as high as 102F (39C) near Zurich. Never used to see temps anywhere close to that 10 years ago, or even 5 years ago. Most homes and hotels in the Alps don't have A/C and never needed it. It's very difficult there for many people at the moment. I hope the heatwave breaks soon.
 
Morning all! Cloudy here, though it is claimed that the sun will make an appearance at some point. Currently 12C with a high of 19C to come.

Had a reasonably productive weekend; managed to get a colour picked for the house paint and picked up 4 large 5 gallon pails of the stuff. Thankfully, it was their annual Canada Day 2fer1 sale so that cut the price of the paint in half. Canada managed to edge out South Africa yesterday in its Round of 32 match. They'll play either Morocco or the Netherlands in the round of 16 match. Either of those teams will be a tough opponent so the dream may die next Saturday but still the team has advanced further in the World Cup than any previous Canadian men's soccer team. Before this, no team had managed a win or even a draw.

Thoughts and prayers for the firefighters and hope that the fires get brought under control soon without any further loss of life or damage.
