Anthropomorphism... anyone else do this?

Oddly enough a recent government recommendation was that you don't use anthropomorphism, wait that was another drug that sounds oddly similar....

of course. Some believe chatgpt is real so why can't your bike, it talks back in a different language. You wouldn't want to piss it off. :scared2:

“And at the end of the day, the most functional mechanical relationships are built on realistic expectations. Your bike’s job is to be a machine”
For this very reason, and for the life of me, I can never figure out why owners line up to get their motorcycles blessed …..just boggles my mind.
To each his own I guess. ;)

My bike's name is Arty. What's yours? :)
Honda.
Or BMW.
"Honey, I'm taking the Honda."
Or, ... well, you get the idea.
That way I can help her see the difference. Otherwise, she just thinks it has 2 wheels and it's big, so it must be a motorcycle. .
Wife training 101.
Did I tell y'all she doesn't like motorbikes?

My Wife,is okay with Motorcycles , just doesn't like all the gear and helmet required. Claims the dune buggy way more fun, yeah we don't have to wear a helmet or anything else, but personally I don't like driving it, mainly my feet are too big for the pedals, and compared to the St it's kind of slow. I do have names for all my Vehicles.

I was a Road Captain in CMA for a couple years and I always thought the bike blessings were silly. Pray for the rider, sure, but the bike blessings, not my thing.

At one point in my life we had five kids, all driving age, plus the two of us, and with so many vehicles (and I had 6 bikes at the time) we HAD to name them simply because it was just easier. Some were obvious based on the vehicle and some were just funny to us. Some of the names included Dolly, Betty, Lexi, Dolores, Reba, Wilma, and my bikes Suzy, Hazel, Connie, Goldie, Drizzle, Maggie, and Ruckus. The ST is Stella, of course.

True story (well the first bit anyway) :
After suffering from fork failure on my ageing BMW K100 during a 4000km trip (last 700km fully seized), I bought all new parts, assembled them and went for a long test ride through the French countryside.. I wasn't happy with the performance of the new fork and after a while, I thought, no that's enough. time for a different bike. Right at that second, the driveshaft decided to shear off. Obviously the Beemer read my mind and concluded "yeah? You are trading me in for a younger model ? Well, &"(*£ you and walk home". Right in the middle of nowhere.

So yeah, machines have personality and you have to give them love.
