Anyone a lighthouse enthusiast?

Some mighty impressive structures there.

Here's an old one (from around 1843) on the South Coast of NSW, on the south head of Twofold Bay. Privately built by a guy named Benjamin Boyd to assist his fleet of boats and ship navigating into Twofold Bay. The story went that he didn't get government approval to build it, the government wouldn't allow him to use it, it was never used.

They even built a replica at Boydtown.

Boydtown is now a tourist destination.

The Concord Point lighthouse in Havre de Grace, MD has been used as a tag in the MD tag game.

Perhaps @jdmccright can bop down to Piney Point, in his general neck of the woods, and add a shot of that one.

Daboo posted the Heceta Head lighthouse earlier, here's a wider angle view of its location on the Oregon Coast.
That's a gorgeous view. I can see how visiting lighthouses can be a great pastime. I was impressed by the Point Reyes visit but was a little put off by the hike and the heavy winds.
