I think I know the answer to this but I'll ask anyway. I've got an Autocom with helmet speakers with Kenwood FRS radio for bike to bike. Now, two of my riding buddies have Cardo Scala G4. Those are bluetooth??
Is there anyway for me to communicate with them? What would be the best way?

Tricky. FRS and bluetooth aren't compatible, so you have to change one end of the system to talk to the other.

You could try getting your buddies to use FRS wired to the scala, but i'm not sure if the scala accepts a microphone input.
One expensive way is a FRS unit with bluetooth (or a bluetooth adapter) paired to the scala. that ought to work.

It may be possible to buy a scala, take it apart work out where you can tap into the speaker and mic wiring and adapt that to your autocom. (easier to write down then to do, of course..)

Yes those are bluetooth. Digital radio. 2.4ghz that frequency hops send chuncks of digital date.
The FRS is FM analog radio. 462Mhz.

There are bluetooth dongles for GMRS radios but I don't think the scala could trigger one of those?

No way------------------completely different animals------------have those guys get a gmrs radio---------bluetooth sucks as a longer distance communication device. I have a large antenna and have talked 3 miles on a 2 watt Kenwood, bluetooth is max 1500ft.......on a really goood day.

If you get a cardo to talk to them I believe you wil have maxed out the group, where the frs/gmrs radios you could communicate with a unlimited number of bikes.

Agree with all should go with FRS...

Only way to work it, would be for them to go FRS and they could use a BT dongle to receive audio from you.... TX is another whole can of worms.
There was one thread on the site where ( from another group, avrider? ) where this was done with a second mic /ptt cord placed in the helmet & radio in pocket.
