The plastic on the side of the helmet that cover the lens, broke. Not completely, but enough to almost keep the lens attached. My question is how to take the cover off completely.
Slide a small flat tip screw driver into the bottom portion. You should be able to see a red release in there....slide the screwdriver into the middle of it and it should release...
I've had several side covers break during lens changes... Arai will replace under warranty
I just go to cycle gear and they hook me up with a new one....
I'm a dedicated Arai-head, but I find it amazing that they continue to use their shield mechanism. Reading their website over the years, they have come up with several excuses... um, I mean engineering reasons for this design. Surely a company that advertises itself as the premiere, numero-uno helmet maker in the world can come up with something better. Having had side pods snap while a long way from a dealer, I now carry a spare pair in the tank bag when I travel. I had no idea how to remove a pod the first time - it's not at all intuitive - and relied on duct tape for three days.
Still, the all-day comfort keeps me in an Arai
