I am doing some research to find a bulkhead connector to use with the Autocom Super Pro AVi since Autocom does not sell a bulkhead connector.

Is anyone using a 7 pin bulkhead connector with the Autocom?

Can anyone verify if Autocom is using a DIN 45-329, 7 pin connector?

Any information/assistance will be greatly appreciated.

We discussed this a couple of years ago.

Autocom's connectors are all standard DINs, but I've never seen anything suitable for outdoor use. There are screw-on DINs that are weatherproof, but you'd have to modify all of your cables to work with them, and they pose a safety problem since they don't pull apart in an accident.

DIN 45-329 is the correct DIN number.

My connection is a hybrid; it's the original Autocom female plug fitted into a Nexus-type Flexistalk, as used on many police and racing motorcycles as a weatherproof communications plug. The left-hand fairing pocket on the police ST1300s has a moulded base for the stalk.

Thanks Hound!

That looks like an excellent setup!

Do you happen to have any part numbers or know of any vendors for the flexistalk and moulded left fairing pocket?

Any more info would be greatly appreciated.

They usually get binned when a police bike is converted back to civilian spec. They do show up on eBay sometimes though. The fairing pocket has a radio pocket, so although there's still some storage room you'd lose the lockable pocket. You can still mount the stalk on a civilian bike, it will just stick outwards a bit more.

I had to remove the Nexus socket and then feed the Autocom plug into the sleeve. The outer sheath is heat-shrinkable so I was able to make it conform to the somewhat smaller DIN plug. I'll keep an eye open for the bits if you like.

However... mine is a bit of a home-made project simply because I already had the stalk and police pocket. If you really want to do it properly, Nexus makes watertight, 7-conductor breakaway jacks and sockets. They are tough units designed for military use.

Thanks for the Nexus link!

Their panel jack ("Coming out soon", I sent an email to them asking when) with their watertight breakaway plug might just do the trick.
