Helmets Autocom & Shoei Multitech

Any body tried fitting an autocom headset in the new Shoei flip top? Tried tonight but bar cutting holes in the lining which I dont want to do, Dont think it will fit very well, any tips gratefully recieved!

I simply got a set of custom earplugs with speakers built in. They have much better sound quality than the Autocom speakers. I now find I can keep the volume way down and hear better than with the speakers.:03biker:
 
Dave I tried with my Shoei X11 and didn't care for the fit I could achieve. I ended up going with earbuds and adapter cord and cutting the speakers off the headset.

My problem was with the speakers in I couldn't get my finger inside the helmet to get my ears folded back out of the way. I also didn't want to cut on an expensive helmet.
 
Here goes :
2 Multitecs and 1 Autocom system
1 coat hanger, 12" of string, Velcro, tool to pry (used a flat head screwdriver), and a tool to push wire between shells (plastic scraper worked)
(1) I ran the connector along the outside edge of the chin strap, inside the chin strap cover.
(2) I ran the wire for the speaker along the rear edge of the helmet, and stuffed it between the inner and outer shell.
(3) I took a coat hanger, straitened, and ran it between the outer shell and inner check piece into the the slit by the chinstrap anchor point. I then used the hanger to pull a string through. I attached the string to the wire from the boom mike and worked the connector back through the slit. The boom mike is secured between the inner and outer shell in the cheek area.
(4) I then used Velcro to secure the speakers.
(5) All the connections made and system tested.

I had them made at the Motorcycle show in NYC but you can get the molds done at an audiologist. I will see if I have the guys card that did mine. The sound quality from the speakers they used is incredible. I keep my volume down at 2 now I used to keep it at 8.:03biker:

Strange. I got my Multitech in December so I've got to wonder why it's taking the dealer so long to get his? You may be better off doing it online.

They are quite nice but a bit noisier and warmer than my Arai Corsair. Construction is first rate and they are a top contender for a flip-up. I wear mine more than the Arai as I like the flip for local riding, chatting at lights and can be cooler in the heat of stop-n-go traffic. On long rides I wear the Arai.

I thought about an autocomm, but since I already had custom molded music monitors I decided not to spend the bucks on the autocomm. I plug the monitors into the output jack on the Zumo 550 to receive GPS directions, MP3, and XM .... great, great sound and fidelity!

I went to an audiologist - he squirted my ears full of silicone ... waited 30 minutes for it to cure ... he then popped the cured silcone molds out of my ears, trimmed them up a bit and then they were sent to Ear Inc. for fitment of the internal speakers.

I highly recommend this farkle .... the molded earplugs are (1) highly effective earplugs, and (2) earplugs that provide communication from the Zumo's GPS, MP3, and XM

This may be a stupid question but I'll ask anyway. I've never used earplugs of any kind even though both my old Fulmer and my new HJC CS-AIR are noisy helmets. Wouldn't wearing earplugs, with or without speakers, make any conversation at stoplights, etc nearly impossible? A lot of my riding is solo but I enjoy a lot of group rides too.

Well they are always slower getting them here in Canada... I was thinking of the syncotech but lots of people say they are too noisy.
