Bikes you've bought multiples of

Holy crap!!! Some of you guys change bikes more often than I change socks!

I am more of a buy and hold type but I have bought 2 2004 St1300's. I would still have only bought one if I hadn't joked many times about inheriting my 85 yr old riding buddy's O4 when he died. He called one day asking if I wanted to buy it since it was getting too heavy for him. My own 04, having only some 300,000 kms on it, was hardly broken in so I politely declined his offer. I hung up the phone and my wife was giving me the stink eye. "how could you not buy that bike after all the grief you have given him??" Called him back up and said I would buy it. It only had some 60,000 kms on it. I still have it, although there is another 100,000 on it. Fits in nicely with my 20 yr old car and 25 yr old Blackbird.
Change bikes?? ;)

With bikes, I'm more hoarder than Marie Kondo...

ST1300 twice 2004 and 2010

Goldwing 4 times 2007, 2016 twice and now am the proud owner of a 2025 6-speed which is absolutely the best one yet!

(miles ridden by me)

ST1100T (s/h 1999) - 40,000+ miles
ST1100AY - (s/h 2003) - 50,000+ miles
ST1300A6 (new 2007) - 70,000+ miles
ST1300A9 (new 2013) - 75,000 miles and counting

Harley-Davidson soft tail heritage, and road King. Honda's gold Wing. I think that's it, but full disclosure I did not consult my records.

Ok so which bikes have you enjoyed enough that you bought at least 2 of?

I've had

3 Harley FLH's 49, 56 and 57
2 Harley XLCH's 59 and 94
3 Yamaha XS 650's 73, 79, 81
2 Suzuki GT 750's 74 and 76
2 Yamaha FZ-1's 01 and 04
2 Yamaha YPV 400's 06 and 08
2 Honda CB 750's 76 and 00
2 Honda CB 1100's 13 and 14
and if I buy another NC 750X (which is my plan for my "last bike"), I'll have had 2 Honda NC 750X's 21 and 25? or 26?
Ha..... found a super clean, super low miles 2023 NC 750X and added it to my stable, making the NC 750 the 9th model of motorcycle I have bought at least 2 of.

2 Honda V-65 Sabres, 2 Honda ST1100's, and just recently my second BMW R1200ST. I ran the Sabres into the ground, well over 100,000 miles on both, just spark plugs, oil changes, and one voltage regulator/rectifier. How's that for Honda reliability?

2 1986 Concours. Couldn’t afford to keep the first one then bought another when money was ok.

ST1100s.
92, sold because I couldn’t afford to keep it, immediately found a cheap 94 that I fixed as money came in. What’s that? Redneck payment plan?
Then later after a life adjustment (see below) a 2001ABS.
Then a 1995 basket case that I put together for fun.

1986 VFR 700, had to sell it because I couldn’t afford it.
However, this time I wised up and used the money to divorce the wife I couldn’t afford.
After that bikes were bought and sold freely.

Later I would I have a 2000 VFR and a 2006.

CBR1100XX.
1997
2003

ST1300
2006
2003A
2004
And currently settled with two bikes,

Hey ferret, this is a fun thread.
Oh my, what a difference a few months can make.

Add a lower mileage 2012 ST1300abs parked in reserve slot.

And a 5th gen VFR.

Didn’t I rationalize having just two bike not long ago?

I'm curious for those of you with multiple bikes sitting in your garage; is it because they are different types, personalities etc. ? I ask because I use my ST for commuting, touring and errands around town....pretty much for everything and all the riding I do (though I don't tend to hit the gravel or dirt so I can see a user case for those that do for something that can handle that as well).

I find the ST is the perfect jackknife bike....at least for me. Not throwing any shade, just curious.

Interesting thread, I have owned 18 bikes so far, but I have not been tempted to buy the same bike again. I do think about it sometimes, but find something different and interesting.
