Blinking ABS light

I know this issue has been discussed and solutions given but I can't seem to find the thread using the search feature. Maybe someone has the link?

My ABS light started to occasionally blink after starting out but didn't happen very often. It's now doing it at least half the time I start out. Always a constant steady blink until shutting off the engine. Any ideas?
 
FWIW, on a ST1100 it is the way it shows it has an error code.
When the system first powers up if everything is okay the ABS lights go out after a few feet of movement.
I would assume the ST1300 ABS probably does the same.
Many times it is an indication of a weak battery (power fault) or a wheel sensor going bad (at least on ST1100s).
 
UP, mine has been doing the same thing, mostly when it's colder than warm. Wondering how, if the charging system is good, why a weak battery would be a player since the light stays on after start until proper speed sensing as you say, within the first movement of the bike. I think the manual says something about a mph trigger for it to go off.

Have tried cleaning the sensors, front and rear but either they're dirty again or that's not the problem.

As many have said, it's a backup system, so I ride like it's not going to work if it's blinking.
 
On the ST1100, the ABS system is really sensitive to voltage variances and a weak battery will cause the ABS to throw an error code.
The inside joke is that the ABS system is the best indicator that your battery needs replacing. ;)
I don't know if the ST1300 ABS has the same issue or not, but it's a place to start.
The ST1100 has a mph 'trigger' also for the ABS lights to go off if the system made it through its initial diagnostics.
If it fails, then the ABS lights just flash and you have a method for retrieving the error code that directs you to the failing component.
I would think (which may be the issue;)) that the ST1300 ABS would be similar to the ST1100 ABS in design.
